I decided to create a rough illustration using the tonal slur of a single colour.

A quick note to say that my last posting date before Halloween is this coming Monday. This is for books and for cards. Thank you!

I had a little time to focus on finishing this illustration this weekend, so here it is! What shall we name it?

My thanks to everyone who requested signed copies of Hornbeam Hollow this Halloween…. Remember, Hornbeam Hollow 2 also has a Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night theme. #hornbeamhollow #krisminers #childrensbookillustrator #childrensbooks #guyfawkes by @krisminers

A few little worlds I’ve created over the years. Different characters, different stories, but all drawn and painted by hand. Always something new taking shape at the drawing desk. #krisminers #childrensbookillustration #watercolor #whimsical #booksforchildren by @krisminers

A little Halloween world from the archives… 🎃🌙

One of those illustrations where the longer you look, the more little characters you find. All hand-drawn and painted — right down to the rather suspicious-looking bees.

Which character did you notice first?

Follow @krisminers for more original, hand-drawn illustration, characters and slightly strange little worlds.

There’s something about October that makes the imagination wander… 🍂🎃

The colours, the darker evenings, the strange little characters that seem to appear from nowhere — it’s easily one of my favourite times of year to illustrate.

Who else loves this time of year?

Send this to someone who loves autumn, illustration and a little bit of magic.

A whole little Halloween world tucked inside a pumpkin… 🎃✨

Revisiting this piece felt rather fitting for October. A moonlit gathering, a tiny ghost and a welcoming glow from behind that little red door.

Watch it unfold… which character catches your eye first? 👻🍄
