Behind the eggplant parmigiana.

Phil and I both love to cook, and we each have our own dishes that we’ve claimed over the years. But eggplant parmigiana? That’s ours. It’s the one we always make together.

It’s also very much a two-person job. One of us chops and fries the eggplant. The other assembles the layers. We know our roles, we put on some music, open a bottle of wine and get to work.

It takes hours. The kitchen is a mess. And we genuinely love every minute of it. There’s something about making food together that has become part of our family rhythm—and even better when we get to serve it to people we love.

Passing these recipes down to our kids means everything to us. We want them to remember more than how to make the dish. We want them to remember us working as a team, getting excited to make it together and being even happier to serve it to people we love. And maybe someday, there will be a Sicuro family recipe book filled with all of these dishes and stories. That’s the dream. by @krisoliveri

This summer was full in the best possible way. Tables filled with people we love, new friends who quickly felt like old ones, food we cooked together, places we explored, plenty of wine poured and a lot of reasons to stay a little longer. I’m realizing more and more that this is my favorite kind of wealth: having people you want to gather with and making the time to actually do it. A summer well spent. 🤍 by @krisoliveri
