It’s so wild, y’all. It’s been exactly one year since I posted my first nerdingoutonnyc video - soooo many amazing things have happened since then because of this adventure. Last week I gave a talk at MoMA (!!!) on the art of the subway, I have three more talks this year for Lectures on Tap and an endless amount of future content because of the vastness of this astonishing city. I still can’t believe it all. I’m so grateful for the peeps who have helped and encouraged me along the way. Truly riding the rails of my dreams. 💜 taken in New York, New York by @krispix8

Y’all know the journey I’ve been on. And you know the journey Manon’s been on. Our journeys have intersected in the most beautiful way - when I first got to NYC, jobless, I found work at Radio City and met an amazing human, @_madilynsmith 🤍. We hit it off instantly. Fast forward to now - Madi’s fiancée @stace_manos was looking for a director for a passion project of hers - Madi and I get she and Manon together and it’s magic - the whole process has been kismet. And my baby has rediscovered his absolute joy at directing. The production is guerilla in the best way, back of a bar, aunt-has-barn/mom-bakes-cookies kind of way. Shows are this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I’ll put the link in my bio - if you’re in the city would you please come support and/or spread the word? Tickets are only $15. Gotcha day. It’s been 11 years since total chaos entered our lives in the form of a pile of absolute trash reanimated into the form a dog. He was awful. Peed on everything, barked at everyone. Literally the worst dog ever made. But he stole my heart. And he saved me. During covid, during dark times, we walked. When I moved to New York, he was my constant. We explored everywhere - it was our adventure. He made it all ok. He will be my one true love for the rest of time. I’m so grateful for him, despite his flaws and my flaws. My soulmate. My forever. My @rorythetrashdog by @krispix8

Such a silly little story, but…centers around the ottoman in the first pic which I’ve named Rocky Muppet. The past month I’ve been what can be best described as “non-pregnant nesting” - I’ve had this uncontrollable urge to frame all the prints I’ve been amassing but never put up, redo my snug area - and I’ve just given into it. It’s felt so good. It culminated with the ottoman - it truly looks like a mix of a muppet and Rocky from Project Hail Mary (thanks for that catch, Lily). I was journaling about all this and realized that my default mode is “one foot out the door” - stems from a lot of things (trawmaaaaaaa) but it’s how I’ve lived mostly happily for a long while. Me putting the finishing touches on this place I’ve had for pretty much five years now - it’s a shift. A really cool one, I think. Both feet on the inside of the door.
