taking the time to sit in this moment and it still doesn’t feel real.

i am extremely humbled by this milestone of becoming a first generation college graduate. the things that i’ve accomplished in the last 3 years are beyond my wildest imagination. i was forced outside my comfort zone every single day i stepped on campus, and i’m blessed to have this opportunity of pursing a higher education to spark change in my community and the world.

to my parents, siblings, and extended family: you’ve all seen me grow tremendously from my younger self and kept me uplifted when i began to doubt myself. thank you for never giving up on me when i felt like i didn’t have a leg to stand on and you became my crutch.

to my Umoja family, professors, counselors, and coordinators: thank you for gracing me with your knowledge and wisdom. from attending trips and conferences to becoming a student leader and becoming involved significantly in activism under your wing, i will take what i’ve learned from y’all and apply it to all my future endeavors.

and to my friends that i cherish deeply: from the bottom of my heart i love each and every single one of you for e v e r y t h i n g. from supporting me throughout my many health struggles, those late night study sessions on campus and discord, and all the mundane moments in between, you’ve seen me at my most vulnerable and accepted me flaws and all. you’ve given me the community i desperately sought for, and for that i cannot thank you enough. you are my lifeline and i would do anything for you.

DVC owes me nothing. San José State University i’m coming for youuuuu 💙💛 #GoSpartans taken in Diablo Valley College by @krisrayani
