European Athletics Championships Birmingham 2026. Using the current post-Champs physical & emotional comedown to throw together some visual memories of a magnificent week presenting & announcing with an amazing group of colleagues. Thank you @andykayevents1 & @taylor2tom for having me as part of the world-class event.

It’s been a brilliant week in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 stadium announcing on the @glasgow_2026 Commonwealth Games Athletics at Scotstoun.

Thank you to @progressprods for having @geoffwightman and myself back again for our second Comm Games together.

Major events like this are a real stamina test, however long you’ve been doing it. Very little sleep, barely a vegetable consumed for 7 days, and an emergency Amazon delivery of printer ink, but maintaining standards of professionalism that mean your personal levels are as high in the 12th session of 12, as they are in the early ones. The 59th and final medal ceremony is as important for the athletes as the first one.

The weather? Well that was quite something! ☔️☀️💨🥶

But one of my first athletics memories as a little boy is when Steve Cram took my England flag on his lap of honour at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, so 40 years later (😳) it was nice to be back in Scotland for a CWG.

Some shoutouts: firstly, to @_milo_71, our Producer. We’ve worked together for a number of years on different things, and Milo is an absolute master at putting his team first, making everyone feel valued, is calmness personified and keeps a smile on everyone’s face, while delivering exceptional production levels.

Our unflappable script & timings supervisor Case the Ace @caseyhewitson who kept every ceremony & start intro on track.

And to our fabulous DJ @gracegarciadj, and team of infield hosts debuting at the Comm Games, @ashleighlnelson @aidangilbride97 @hazzamcv, who were fantastic, and are names to watch for the future in the 🎧/🎤 space!

Finally to the amazing @evelynfraser_25 and Graeme Blyth who held the team logistics together. And to all of the production crew (too many to list!), floor managers who helped deliver hopefully an experience that the athletes and visitors to Scotstoun enjoyed.

Congratulations Glasgow on what you laid on for the Games, and thanks to all the volunteers who were unfailingly energetic and positive!

🎙️ A super fun night was had on live ‘Voice of God’ duty for @stellaartois at their exclusive tennis-themed ‘Let’s do Dinner’ event at Outernet London 🎾, coinciding with #Wimbledon.

As well as stage interviews with @andymurray , Maria Sharapova & Prue Leith, we also had two incredible live performances from @lloyiso_rsa & @natashabedingfield

And bartenders from around the world also competed in the live Final of the ‘Perfect Serve’ Stella Artois competition.

It was a pleasure to work with the @winkeventsnl & Stella teams for the first time, and thank you to top pal @daverogerscomms for linking us up.

🇧🇼 Just the most uplifting, incredible (and intense!) experience here in Botswana over the last two days, as lead commentator for the world feed host broadcast of the Debswana Diamond Company World Athletics Relays in Gaborone.

The noise when the Botswana Men’s 4x400 team won the final event is still ringing in my ears now! Off the charts. 📈

The loudest athletics stadium I’ve ever been in by a long way, and possibly even in any sport!

700 athletes, 36 races, 6 hours of broadcast. My brain is somewhat jaded!

The locals have been absolutely amazing in their welcome & hospitality too. A fantastic trip and event, and one I will never forget.

I wish I could have bottled the energy in the room when we held our football commentary evening at @bournemouthuni this week.

4 games, 24 students, 11 goals, more than 130 live radio hits: A fast-paced, real-life way of learning.

Really proud of the team who made it happen (out of hours) to give the students an unforgettable experience. Hats off to @kristemps for coming up with the concept and seeing it through with great care and attention to detail. And to @hamish_mmm and @jasonhallett42 for bringing heaps of experience and knowledge too.

Such a joy to see real passion and dedication from everyone involved. by @kristemps

Thanks to top Gooner @djtonyperry for catching one of my goal announcements at Wembley last night.

(He was basically just over-excited at his boy Saka popping one in the top bin!)

In these roles there’s often very little candid footage of us doing our job.

And I never, ever, self-film when announcing or commentating. It’s a distraction for anyone in those jobs, and can jeopardise the quality of work.

🇯🇵 That’s a wrap on the World Athletics Championships 2025 here in Tokyo.

The athlete performances were off the charts. There was history & there were upsets. There was a captivating story around every corner, and over 50 nations won a medal, some their first ever.

Our five-person commentary team on the world feed host broadcast had the joy of telling those stories to a global audience, ensuring that we grasped & did justice to what those moments meant to the communities in which they resonated most powerfully.

It was certainly a stamina test, with some extremely sapping weather conditions, little sleep, and the need to be at your best every single session.

Thank you to HBS & Tata Communications for the opportunity to be part of the new five-year host broadcast deal.

And thanks to commentary colleagues Rob Walker, @thiskatiesmith_ , @hannengland_ & @richnewman86 - top team.

Hosting the Euros Homecoming Celebration of the @lionesses to 65,000 people outside Buckingham Palace, with my long-time mic partner @kenziebenali? Yeah, it makes the grid. 🎤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 by @kristemps

A day in the life of @kristemps - our Stadium Announcer at the @emiratesfacup semi-final 🎙️ by @kristemps

My @paris2024 experience is now over. 26 days in the city, most recently as Stadium Announcer for Wheelchair Rugby at the Paralympics.

What a sport, incredible athletes.

Threw together (excuse the horrible sound junctions, but mobile apps are limited!) a few of the bits of fun we had in amazing atmospheres of full houses for all 10 sessions.

Super team to work with, led by @adam_kalka_, @jennydemay my co-announcer mostly dancing on chairs, @yoyocrouz throwing in his crowd interactions to brilliant effect, and @bruceddanbury superbly assisting us through a sport new to many of us.

I’ll get my athletics reel together at some point too, but thank you Wheelchair Rugby, you were amazing!

Just an unbelievable week of announcing at @wembleystadium. Three of the biggest matches in world football inside seven days.

Congratulations to @manchesterunited & @southamptonfc on their wins over the weekend. Fans from all four participants were absolutely amazing.

And “wow” is all I can say about the shows put on by @event360_sport, working with The FA & @efl. Thank you to them all for having me.
