KU Family Day 2026 💙❤️ was a perfect weekend. Our Avery Kate is graduating in May so Alexandra, made it to family weekend this year.

Friday night ~ Sigma Kappa mixer at Dempsey’s Bar.
Saturday ~ Tailgate at Avery Kate’s house before the game. We also met AK’s new Sigma Kappa house mom and saw their beautiful new library.

We missed my parents this year but dad was busy co-chairing his 60 high school class reunion. ❤️

We’ve also attended the last 5 years of KU Family Days with the Thrailkill family. With Carson graduating, that little tradition ended this weekend too. taken in The University of Kansas by @kristen_scribner

🎪✨ THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH… through the eyes of a 2-year-old! ✨🎪

Today, Cohen got to experience the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, and watching the wonder on his face was better than any show under the big top! ❤️

The lights, the music, the performers, the excitement — there’s just something magical about seeing it all through his eyes.

These are the Grandma & Papa adventures that we’ll treasure forever. 🥹❤️ Making memories with our little guy is truly the greatest show of all!

Thank you to @madisonembrey and @ringling for the meet-and-greet! It was great to see you in your element! I say it all the time, the dance world is truly small. As you can see in the last picture, Cohen didn’t want to go and waved goodbye to you the whole way up the stairs!

And just like that, our little Cohen is 2! Where has the time gone?

Grandma and l are so proud of the little man you are becoming. We treasure the time you spend with us laughing, playing cars, singing silly songs, dancing, chasing the cats around the house, exploring new words, and giving the best bear dance hugs! Those memories will forever be etched on our hearts. I hope someday you know just how much joy you have brought into our lives. Words could never express how much we LOVE being your grandparents.

Happy last first day of Undergrad for Avery Kate. A lot of mixed emotions are happening for AK this year. Avery Kate loves all parts of college life— sorority, friendships, roommates, professors, and her classes. Over 20 years ago, I heard “I Believe” from Fantasia and the song instantly became my personal theme song. Little did I know at the time how Believe National Dance Competition would come into Craig and our family’s lives. Believe is more than just another dance competition. The humans who help create all the moving parts from the first Regional competition to the last National competition are what make it a special place to be. The last couple of weeks on the road, can be physically and mentally taxing. However, when you get to work with your family, and friends who become family, it makes the long days all worthwhile. As this BLV season chapter closes, I’m already looking forward to seeing all the Believe staff next season as it’s always very bittersweet to say goodbye at the last load out. ✨🪩

3. Teacher folders, name tags, plus Craig created personalized buttons with a little flair to their logos for each studio. He designed, hand cut, and created the buttons himself.
4. One of Craig’s motto’s is: “I won’t ask you to do something, I wouldn’t do myself.” Long story short, Craig flew with all the pieces for the flower cart in the same suitcase as his suits. Why? Because he’s crazy… nah, simply, he cares.

There’s No Place Like Spending your 30th, yes, 30th wedding anniversary at a dance competition. Here we are celebrating at Believe Nationals in Ft Lauderdale.

Several weeks ago, we were able to escape to Costa Rica for an amazing few days away to cheers to 30 years!

Craig and I had the honor of helping with Austin and @makinsey_farber Thrailkill’s wedding this weekend. Their ceremony and celebration was perfect and intentional. Although, I failed to get a pictures with Austin and Mak or of their “love” table recognizing all their loved ones in their families wedding photos, surprisingly to us, Craig and I made the “Family Love” table. The Thrailkill family has been a blessing and friends who are family for 20+ years. Avery Kate never ceases to amaze us as she carves through her educational journey.
Today, immediately after her Constitutional Law final, we rushed her to the new and gorgeous KU Conference Center where she was initiated into Phi Alpha Theta. KU’s Phi Alpha Theta chapter started in 1946. Avery Kate is joining KU’s 80th initiation class. The ceremony was in conjunction with History Dept Undergraduates as well as Honors Thesis Undergraduates.

It seems so crazy that Avery Kate will essentially skip her Junior year and graduate next year. I feel as though we just dropped her off at her dorm for Freshman year. 🥹

Craig and I also spent several long hours moving her out of room at the Sigma Kappa House. I know she will miss this chapter in life living among so many friends plus having prime parking. 🤣 She also said, goodbye for the final time to Mom Joanie as she retires after 8 years of being the KU Sigma Kappa House Mom. by @kristen_scribner

✨KU has many traditions but one of the most beloved core memory moments is KU Basketball Camping which dates back to the mid 80s.
If you’re unfamiliar with this piece of KU Basketball Camping history, in a nutshell, students form groups between 5-30 students, create a unique name, and essentially wait in line by taking shifts starting after the previous home game until the next home game from 6 am-10 pm each weekday and 8 am-10 pm on weekends. Avery Kate and 29 other sorority sisters camped the past week for yesterday’s game and with luck, had front row seats! ✨

Oh and AK along with her camping group, started camping TODAY for the UConn game on Dec. 2! 😳😝💙❤️ taken in The University of Kansas by @kristen_scribner
