I am so privileged in being able to dance the way I do. I’m also deeply honored to be able to dance with such amazing humans.

So much energy went into producing and performing Continuum, and man was it a show! If you missed this one, you missed out. I love these dancers with my whole heart and find myself pretty lucky to be able to perform with them!

Months later and I still can’t get this song out of my head! 😂

Months later and I’m still in awe of what an experience Slow Motion Collision was. We opened our hearts and danced our souls out on that stage together. We collided our energies to bring an intricate vision to life, and I’ve thought about these nights every day since.

I’d perform SMC over and over again with these wonderful humans. Missing this and you all so dearly 🩷🩵

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of grief, rage, sadness, travel, education, art, giggles, karaoke, social and cultural politics…. Life. Here we are. I made it, and survived it.

I’m still deeply grieving in my own ways, and of course caught Covid amidst the chaos, so rather than dump a sentimental novel on y’all I’ll leave it at this:

To everyone who helped keep me standing these last 2 weeks, thank you… so so much. Though I am a perfect picture of a dying Victorian child at this time, here is a faceless photo dump of the last couple of weeks to commemorate my survival 🤌🏼💪🏼

On June 17th I cut off all 18-20 inches of my hair to donate to Wigs for Kids!! We raised $200 to send with the hair, and both of those donations went out this week!!!

This is something I’ve wanted to do since I was 11, but I was terrified of what others were going to think or say for many years. Now at 27, I am designating beauty to the internal self. My hair is not me, I am.

Many of my days have been spent in front of the mirror, chewing myself up and spitting right back out because of a bad hair day, and one day I realized how badly some people pray for a hair day at all…

There is a beautiful child out there somewhere that is going to wear this hair with all of the love and pizazz it and they deserve. Even though we don’t, and may never know each other, I love you so much, little one. With the deepest faith, I know that my hair is going on the coolest head in the business ❤️

• Weathered Mind •

I am skin and bones, dust and sand,
Riding on winds, of storms so soft,
I wisp away, and scatter freely.
Little twists in the sky… on the ground.

I am whispered thoughts, heavy eyelids,
Filtering glow and shadow, in the dark,
I blink, and wait, and watch,
Seeking eyes, dimly lit rooms.

I am unraveled silk, empty spools,
Grasping fabric, chill, wind.. redundancy,
I wrap my arms, and freeze in place.
Ice sculptures in frail sweaters.

I am buried fossils, fragile antiquity,
Held, where dust is more dense than thread,
I sit, waiting for someone to find me.
Self-preservation at its finest…

I am.

• Work in Progress •

“In a body with slivered mirrors, no brakes, and imploded tires, running on empty, driving on the Interstate of my inner state,
A vein so damaged that it is almost invisible as it draws a vague outline of where I’m to go.
A trail so faded that we’ve shifted gears from “road trip” to “off road”.
And it’s nothing short of a miracle that I’m able to navigate over the well worn potholes of introspection, and cracks descending into valleys of thoughts left unsaid.”

It’s been a while since I’ve done improv in my kitchen. Life’s been so busy, with beautiful and hard things lately. A lot of self work, and dreaming happens in this kitchen. It’s a modest space, but has the most light of any room in the house. It makes me feel warm, inspired.

Sharing this improv and a little excerpt of some poetry I’m revisiting. There are so many beautiful things on the horizon, and healing is quite the journey, but damn it’s good to be alive and to feel, even if it sucks sometimes ♥️ taken in Somewhere in My Head by @kristin.ash
