🔮💯 I'm doing a new routine where I pick a tarot card on Sunday, asking the question "What will make this week easier?"
Today I picked the Four of Swords (in reverse). As you can see from the book, this card is actually perfect since my surgery is on Tuesday 💯🔮

The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

This novel about three witchy sisters re-uniting in New Salem during the Spring Equinox of 1893 is the perfect read for the final week of October 🎂

🎉👻🎭 Had an incredibly faBOOlous night of comedy last night at @sassybritchesbrewing. So grateful to Rae Lockedust and @unclosetedcomedy for bringing Queer Comedy to Brantford in collaboration with @brantpride! Shout out to @waterbuoy_42 for initiating the event and inviting me to join the lineup with established Queer comics @beebertrandcomedy and @mickeydykeman - both of whom were hilarious. Laughing with them was the best medicine for my harrowing day.
If you had told teenage me that at 4-days-shy-of-40 I would be sitting in the front row for Canadian Comedian Legend Elvira Kurt, a woman I was watching on Just for Laughs when I was in High School, it would have blown my mind. Teenage me had no idea what was coming, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Also a shout out the lovely @thriftforcharitybrant for offering me a ride home - I can't wait for the Thrift Crawl! I know it's not really "thrift", but can we start at Binz? 🤣 I've never been. Feeling humble, grateful, and electrified and I can't wait to do it again...AFTER my Top Surgery! 🎭👻🎉 by @kristydolson71

Dracula by Bram Stoker

The final book in my Year of Classics is the classic vampire novel which-arguably-launched vampires in general into the pop culture consciousness via the aristocratic, sexually-charged Count Dracula. I've seen and read so many adaptations and re-tellings, prequels and continuations, that it's been fascinating to finally read the source material 🎂

Every Goodbye Ain't Gone by Dana Renee Green

As the veil thins, this new novel about a Black woman battling cancer in the South during the 1950s is a reminder to find joy in the days we are given, and to express gratitude for the ancestors who guide us through them 🥧

Frankenstein by Mary W. Shelley

Our Year of Classics is coming to a close as I approach my 40th Birthday and no Classics Reading List would be complete without the Mother of Science Fiction, Mary Wallstonecraft Shelley herself. Frankenstein's monster has lived in the collective unconscious since the birth of cinema and it is WILD reading the source material. A warning of men who would play at being God, this literary masterpiece should be read by all ☕️

Save Me the Waltz by Zelda Fitzgerald

In the only novel she wrote, Zelda Fitzgerald tells the story of Alabama Beggs, an aspiring ballerina who meets and marries an army officer and artist, and must navigate marriage, motherhood, ambition, and identity amidst the backdrop of the Roaring Twenties--a tale that draws directly from Zelda's own lived experiences of being married to F. Scott Fitzgerald 🥨

✨️🌈🥰 My heart is so full! I had an incredible time hosting the @allhottiestheater dress up photo booth today at @brantpride 's amazing JOY Brant event in Paris, Ontario. Big thanks to our wonderful Board Members Esther, Fatima, and Greg as well as our volunteers Jen, Mel, and Vii for their support today. Special thanks to my Dear Friend Jill for bringing their fabulous energy and accessories to get us through the homestretch. I am so grateful to @brantpride for organizing and running this event: it is such a blast every year! To be part of it with a booth for the first time to build a queer and diverse performing arts community was such a thrill. Thank you to each and every person who visited the booth and had fun playing dress up with us, had their picture taken with our frame, or simply stopped to scan our QR code and chat 🥰🌈✨️
