On the ninth day of Navratri, we worship Siddhidhatri.

Siddhi means ‘fulfillment’  or ‘perfection’ and datri means ‘giver’ or ‘awarder’.

Whatever you say becomes the truth and manifests, whatever work you take up gets completed to perfection. This is Siddhi.

This energy makes the impossible, possible. You are able to think out of the box, and go beyond the reasonable and logical mind. This ability to see farther and wider beyond time and space helps you achieve unimaginable things in life.

Siddhi brings fulfillment and totality in every sphere of life.

The color for the ninth day is white / gold symbolizing purity, perfection, and prosperity.

On the seventh day of Navaratri, Mother Divine takes the form of Kaalaratri.

Kaala means ‘time’ as well as ‘black’, and ratri means ‘night’. The Devi is worshipped as the destroyer of ignorance and remover of sorrow.

Ratri or night is that time of day that comforts us, as the day’s work is behind us. As this is a time of repose and rest, it brings relief to every living being.

Kaalaratri is the deep, dark energy that houses the infinite universe.

Gurudev offers a unique perspective on the boundless vision that the night brings, making the stars and constellations visible - which is not seen during the day.

Devi Kaalaratri also bestows wisdom, by taking you from darkness to light.

The colours for day seven are green/ blue/ purple symbolising rest, calmness and wisdom.

The sixth form of the Mother Divine is Devi Katyayani.

Katyayani rules the subtle world which is invisible and unmanifest.

That which is invisible and cannot be perceived by the senses is far greater than we can even imagine and comprehend.

That energy that sees beyond the senses and knows beyond logic is Katyayani.

Devi Katyayani also symbolises the energy that arises in the creation against negativity and to restore dharma.

Today’s colour is orange symbolising action, passion and creativity.

We worship Skandamata on the fifth day of Navratri.

Skandamata is the mother of Skanda or Subramanya (Lord Karthikeya). She is depicted as riding a lion with the baby Skanda on her lap. This signifies courage and compassion. The lion signifies courage, while Mother Divine is the embodiment of compassion.

Skanda is the skillful one. Often when one is very skillful, they tend to be arrogant. But here the skill is combined with a humility that nurtures innocence.

When we pray to this form of Mother Divine, we are bestowed with the qualities of skill along with innocence, and courage along with compassion.

The colour for day five is green, which symbolises relaxation.

On the fourth day of Navaratri, the Mother Divine is worshipped in the form of Kushmanda Devi.

The name Kushmanda is made of three words. ‘Ku’ (little), ushma (warmth, energy) and anda (egg). Kushmanda also refers to a ball of energy. Interestingly, the pumpkin is also called Kushmanda.

Gurudev explains “The round pumpkin refers to prana (the subtle life force energy) which is total, complete like a sphere.”

A pumpkin is said to have the unique property of absorbing prana and also radiating prana.

Kushmanda symbolises elevating oneself to the Supreme Intelligence which is the Mother Divine herself.

Like a pumpkin, you too should feel the abundance and fullness in your life, and see every particle in creation alive with prana.

Seeing that awakened intelligence manifest and pervading everywhere in creation is the meaning of Kushmanda.

Today’s colour is yellow which signifies energy, cheerfulness, and luminosity.

On the third day, the Divine Mother is worshipped in the form of Chandraghanta.

(Chandra) the moon is connected with the mind, and the Ghanta (or the bell) is an instrument connected with alertness.

Just as the moon waxes and wanes, the mind also wavers. The ringing of the bell brings the mind to the present moment.

When the mind becomes alert and steadfast, it adds beauty to one’s nature. Chandraghanta represents this aspect of beauty in the mind.

Chandraghanta is also symbol of courage and bravery and helps us eliminate negative feelings.

The colour for day three is royal blue, which represents power and authority.

P.S. The pictures are from Navratri 2022 as I decided to give my family photographers a break yesterday 😅 @venkatsraman @paramesh_17
