Happy 98th Heavenly Birthday Dad!

I've been doing lots of work around the condo! A "refresh" you might say! Lots of painting! cleanup after contractor's. No one is quite as tidy as you! As John says, it's a characteristic of being a Virgo. by @kritty_k

"OVER THE YEARS" - photos taken on September 7th.

Interestingly, photos taken before retirement late May 2015.... were mostly objects.

We tend to travel in the "shoulder season" to avoid the hot weather, humidity, crowds & mostly, because we still worked.

Once the grandkids came, a great deal of our travel was to spend time w them.

We traveled late August-September 2022 to the Scandinavian countries, Denmark, Sweden & Norway, but that was the only trip that fell on September 7th.

It's fun picking a date to create a glimpse into my life over the years!

The last picture reminds me of something Lydia would like.... capturing pictures of 23 year olds is challenging.... BUT, we had plenty of adventures with her at the ages of Timothy (7), Tesneem (8), James (9) & Sukayna (10).

TOMORROW, September 8th would have been my dad's 98th Birthday. Looking thru my photo archives to commemorate his day. The funny "creature" in the first picture reminds me of something my dad had on the bookcase in the den. Wonder where that disappeared??

LUCKY ME!
John has perfected his sourdough baking & made a batch of raspberry jam this morning! 🌞
We are completing our remodel - unpacking boxes, hanging art & declutterring. Feels great! It's like having a NEW house!

THE BAKER STRIKES AGAIN!
John has been perfecting his sourdough baking in his leisure time. Two new Dutch ovens (baking casserole pans) later.... he's smiling at his successes.

Two family members (Stephanie, daughter in Arlington, VA & Elizabeth, a cousin from Mason, OH) have been giving him sourdough tips! Both bake weekly, or more, depending on time & need.

More delish-ness to come now that the kitchen remodel is done.

Upstairs bathrooms are almost completed. YAY! It will take time to put things away & enjoy this 5 month condo update!

More adventures..... people who say they don't want to take a tour! Think AGAIN! How many people would have such incredible activities?

Gearoid, our guide arranged for us to stop for a mid-morning coffee or tea & a scone at JOHN B KEANE’s pub to visit with an Irish story teller. We learned Billy was the son of this famous Irish author, many of which have been made into American movies (i.e. Ryan's Daughter)....

Loads of early morning 🤣 laughing before heading to a BIRD FALCONRY.

After a quick walk by the caged birds, we formed a circle in an open area & had multiple opportunities to "try our hand/arm” at holding the flying birds. They'd swoop down & grab a tidbit of meat the bird handler placed on our glove. It was pretty amazing!!

Definitely a benefit of taking a tour!

AND, then our very skilled bus driver, George, led us thru the brilliantly green-countryside, navigating the tight turns & we enjoyed the countryside INSTEAD of trying to drive on the other side of the road!

NOW - We're off to the Rock of Cashel & then to Kilkenny to visit the castle! Catch you later!

Street Art from the past three days!

Our days are busy! Either I'm too tired to post or the WiFi is sketchy! Keep checking back!

ENNIS: small town with a walking tour of public structures. Plus.... an amazing selection of electric box ART & wall murals.

LISTOWEL: visited a pub for some Irish storytelling! Amazing store front art!

DINGLE: our stop for two nights. Lovely seaside town & our home base for trip to the Blasket Centre & the Slea Head Drive.

BLASKET CENTRE: informative museum stop! More info later about this site!
