As a girl from the desert who only ever ‘surfed’ heat waves, foiling has unlocked a love for the ocean I never thought I ever knew I needed. It’s afternoons like this which confirm why it’s one of my most favourite things to do.

Prone downwind FAIL. I had a hard time on this novelty reverse run with northerly wind, waves aiming for the shore and lots of water turbulence to pump through. Thought I could get out to the wind line but it was just too hard for my skinny chicken legs to get through everything and make it past the waves. Once I’d come down, I think it took me 30 mins to pop back up 😂 Gotta fail some to win some though! taken in Western Australia by @krustykott

Downwinding for me is about having as much fun as possible, pushing yourself in some instances, juicing as much as you can out of the bumps, hanging with friends and enjoying that time you have in nature…provided you don’t get hit by a whale. I don’t get sub 2mins, I ride high on the mast when I need to and I ride foils that are fun and suit me. You gotta do what makes you happy!

Definitely lost a few marbles over the past year but what was scary was that I nearly lost my mast in this session after finding all my bolts were loose as! Didn’t stop me from having a hell time on the blades though!
