Last year I wrote and directed a play about Judy Garland. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. I was by no means some exquisit Judy impersonator, but I had the privilege of paying tribute to a woman who thought me so much about believing in myself.

In the lead up to the show I was absolutely terrified and really doubted my abilities. I hadn’t acted on stage in years, and I’d never written or directed a play in my life. However, I was so unbelievably fortunate that I had an entire cast of people who believed in me. I got to create magic on stage with some of the people I love the most. I will cherish that forever. All of this is thanks to Benni & @priosmafilmfest 🌈

Benni put his entire trust in me and has given me full creative control to materialise all the crazy ideas in my head (& believe me - there has been some BATSHIT ones) 👀 Thank you for bringing so many beautiful queer stories from across the globe to Cork. We are so lucky to be at the closing gala of such an iconic & important weekend. Thank you to everyone involved. 🙏

Tomorrow night we do it all over again. I’m not only excited but honoured to show you what this cast have produced. I am BEYOND proud of my friends. Thank you for helping me create this absolute fever dream of a play. ❤️

Krissy Down Under hits The Everyman Theatre tomorrow night at 9PM, following the screening of Another Man by David Moragas at 6:30PM. You can get your tickets from The Everyman’s website.
