SWEENEY BOMBAY….a project that feels pretty special to be a part of. ❤️

From developing the design to seeing it slowly come together on site, this one has been a real learning experience and a project I’ll always be grateful for.

The idea behind Sweeney was to create more than just a restaurant ,a space that feels like a home away from home. Built around a beautiful 140-year-old mango tree, the experience flows between an open, garden-like setting and warm, intimate interiors, bringing together the ease of Thai village spaces with the comfort of European home-style living.

Alankrit
.
Alankrit, meaning “to adorn,” is a floor lamp shaped by the ornamentation of Indian lacquer craft and marks my first furniture project. Indian lacquerware, one of India’s oldest crafts, dates back over 400 years and is first mentioned in Abul Fazal’s Aaine Akbari (1590 AD). Lac work is still practiced in the village of Nirona in Kutch, though by only a few artisans today. We learned the art of lacquer woodcraft from Popatbhai, one of its remaining practitioners, who guided us through the process. Inspired by this heritage, Alankrit blends traditional craft with modern aesthetics.
Crafted in Babool wood, its black-and-white palette quietly contrasts the craft’s usual vibrancy, offering a thoughtful way for the tradition to continue forward.

Thrilled to share our winning submission "Oasis" for "Co-creating experience through material" challange.

"Oasis" is a unique pod designed to blend solitude, acceptance, and inspiration. It features an 8x8x10-foot structure placed diagonally over a pond and garden, with a tree passing through it to create a strong connection with nature. Terracotta is the primary material, providing a naturally calming atmosphere, with patterns inspired by Gujarati culture. A glass-encased pond corner offers immersive nature views with privacy. Continuous water flow adds serenity, and an extended roof supports a small garden, enhancing aesthetics and providing tranquility. Oasis serves as a sanctuary for solitude and self-acceptance, inspires through nature integration, and fosters dialogue by accommodating more people, all within a university campus environment, aiming to create lasting memories and shared meaning.
