FILED: 2026 Master Capstone Projects

Closing out the archive: Madisyn and Calle think kids deserve to fall in love with nature early and often. Their capstone turned that belief into something you can climb inside: a birdhouse exhibit built with the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center, designed to spark empathy through play! taken in College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University by @kstatelarcp

FILED: 2026 Master Capstone Projects

Up next in the archive: Brett, who spent his capstone digging into one of housing’s toughest questions-how do you design neighborhoods that are efficient and affordable without cutting corners on livability? His answer lives in the details of thoughtful site planning. taken in College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University by @kstatelarcp

FILED: 2026 Master Capstone Projects

Each spring, our graduate students wrap up their degree with a capstone: a final project that turns years of learning into something tangible. We’re opening the archive to look back at a few standout projects from 2026.

Three disciplines. Three cities. Countless perspectives connected through one studio.

Students in landscape architecture, interior architecture, and architecture collaborated with communities in Kansas City, Philadelphia, and Montgomery to explore bike infrastructure, adaptive reuse, housing and wellness, and public memory through design.

We’re so grateful for the communities, supporters, and sponsors who made this experience possible! by @kstatelarcp

BUILDERS BASH

A little throwback to a day full of dirt, design, and discovery!

Our LARCP students spent the day at the Flint Hills Discovery Center sharing the world of landscape architecture with curious young minds. Between building, learning, and a whole lot of hands-on fun, kids got to see how design shapes the world around them and we got to be reminded why we love it in the first place. taken in Flint Hills Discovery Center by @kstatelarcp

Just a little peep into LARCP… and trust us, it’s worth the look.

Our students brought their projects to life at Open House—featuring Nick Stone’s stonework debut, Cat Cuevas’ hands-on urbanism piece, and real-world planning projects shaping our communities.

Yeah… we design cool stuff. taken in College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University by @kstatelarcp

Last week, we had the opportunity to host Dan Snow. His visit highlighted a career dedicated to exploring the intersection of people, places, and materials. His visit engaged students through lecture, clay sculpting, and immersive observation at Konza Prairie. We’re especially grateful that he left us with a sculpture he created during his visit. Truly an inspiring reminder of the experience and the thoughtful approach to craft and landscape that he shared with our students.

Graduate students in LARCP have been putting in the work and it shows!

Last fall, RCP grads took their research on the road, presenting on foodscapes, housing, and service learning at the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning conference and again at the Engagement Scholarship Consortium in Roanoke.

A big shoutout to Avery Neer for earning the Sigma Xi Research Excellence Award!

PLAN 641 | HUMAN HABITATS

Some designers look at empty land and see a blank slate. Avery listens.

Today she’s sharing her design philosophy with us — one shaped by growing up in rural Kansas, where adaptability isn’t optional and community is part of the foundation. She believes in working with the land, uncovering potential in what already exists, and letting place lead the process.

Her guiding question:
How can I give this place new life? taken in College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University by @kstatelarcp

Roses are red, violets are blue…
LARCP professors, this post is for YOU!

Our students put their appreciation into words this Valentine’s Day, and let’s just say…
the love is real.

Thank you for the late-night critiques, the big-picture thinking, and the constant encouragement.

We’re lucky to learn from you! taken in College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University by @kstatelarcp
