🔴 Title: The Way Home 🔴

The creation of this work was inspired by a painting depicting a stork against a sunset sky. This image resonated with me instantly, as the theme of the East is one of the strongest and deepest for me — both visually and conceptually.

I perceive Japanese art as the ability to convey beauty quietly: to be vibrant yet appropriate, to speak loudly yet with nobility, to combine expressiveness with balance. Subtle meaning, grace, color, and harmony — these are the qualities I consider essential in Eastern art, and precisely what I sought to express in this work.

Everything began with a painting I came across by chance. Then an initial sketch appeared, one that seemed to burst onto the paper — quickly and effortlessly, as if the idea had been waiting for its moment. This is how the story was born and embodied in nails, as narrative is an integral part of Japanese art. In every master’s work, as in any story, there must be a beginning and an end.

The poster’s storyline depicts the flight of a stork — its journey home, which can be long, challenging, and dangerous. Along the way, the stork must pass through clouds that cut through the sky like blades. The flight begins with a push from the ground, and as we lift our gaze to the sky, we see the stork emerging from bamboo thickets and soaring toward the light of the setting sun.

The theme of the journey is especially close to me on a personal level. It is not always simple or safe, but I believe it can be truly beautiful.

The following materials were used to create this work: gel, acrygel, base, top coat, paper nail forms for extensions, airbrushing, and gel paints. All elements were created entirely by hand, without the use of molds. Each decorative detail was sculpted from gel.

For this comparison, I used two identical macro lenses and the same settings:

• 4K at 60 fps
• Photographic Styles: Standard and Standard + Bright
• During editing, I only trimmed the clips—no filters, added sharpness, or clarity

There is a slight difference, but my main conclusion is that image quality depends primarily on lighting, the lens, and many small details that together create either a perfect—or less-than-perfect—result.

40 models. 400 nail tips. Multiple designs. A team of 7.
This is what went into creating the nails for New York Fashion Week 2026 | Victor de Souza SS27.

For this project, I brought together the Kova Nails Art team, including 5 nail artists based in different states. Most of the preparation was done remotely, with the team working from Texas, California, Connecticut, and Philadelphia. The finished nail sets were then shipped to me in New York.

In this backstage video, I’m showing the entire process from start to finish: design development, the team’s work, final preparation, and show day.

From Texas to New York Fashion Week. ✨

Seeing these final images feels a little surreal.

I had the opportunity to be part of the Kova Nails Art team, creating nail sets for Victor de Souza’s runway show at New York Fashion Week on September 11.

Our team worked from different states, creating nails inspired by the collection — its fabrics, textures, details, and overall mood. Then everything came together in New York and became part of the final runway looks.

There is something special about seeing work you created miles away from New York appear on the models and become part of a Fashion Week story.

So happy to finally share some of these beautiful images. 🤍

I made it into the Top 25 nail artists in North America and became a contestant on NASNA — North America’s Star Nail Artist!

Exciting challenges and a loooot of work are ahead. Each challenge means a new concept, hours of creating, filming, voice-over, editing, and anxiously waiting for the results.

Every round is an elimination, and only three artists will make it to the grand finale, where an unforgettable celebration, amazing prizes, and a well-deserved victory await!

I’m going to give it my all, but most importantly, I want to enjoy this incredible creative journey and every step along the way! ✨

✨ Как мои ногти попали на New York Fashion Week?

Всё началось с сообщения: нашей команде предложили создать ногти для показа Victor de Souza.

Да, того самого дизайнера, чьи образы носили Lady Gaga, Rihanna и Jennifer Lopez.

Нам показывали кусочки ещё не вышедшей коллекции, а мы придумывали ногти специально под будущие образы.

И тут — примерка в Нью-Йорке.

А я в Калифорнии.

Мне нужно срочно сделать и отправить ШЕСТЬ сетов типс.

Но есть одна маленькая проблема…

Весь день у меня клиенты.

В 8 вечера я прихожу домой, сажусь за типсы —
и заканчиваю в 3 часа дня следующего дня.

30 часов. Без сна.

Потому что в 4 часа посылка уже должна была уехать в Нью-Йорк.

Я успела.

И через несколько дней наши ногти уже были за кулисами New York Fashion Week SS27.
