august!!!!

In two days, I will be 29 🤍

This past year I have found such sturdiness, and love, as I continue settling into who I get to be. This past month has been a trademark of what the foundation is built from.

Art & Science
Reading every spare minute for recreation
Continuing my education to excel in my career
Enjoying meals that exceed exceptional
Crafting and creating
& I am back to brunette

In a few days time, I get to celebrate the passage of another year with people I love and adore.
The last year of my twenties!!! My heart is so full 🤍 by @kt_sneed

“Education is the best weapon we have to fight poverty, ignorance and terrorism.” - Malala Yousafzia

One of our featured speakers in Taiwan, was the remarkable Malala Yousafzia, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate in history. For those who may be unfamiliar with her, I encourage you to take a moment and investigate her story further through her own words, as this introduction will hardly scratch the surface.

In her presentation to us, she discussed growing up in Swat Valley district of Pakistan during the early 2000s. They had a very fragile municipal infrastructure for clean running water or reliable electricity, especially in remote villages. But, they had a Rotary Club, of which her father was a member.

In watching him and his club serve their community, she became inspired. At the age of 11, Malala began speaking out against the Taliban restriction on girls attending school. She drew global attention to the basic human rights she and her peers did not have.

At the age of 15, she was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in an assassination attempt.

Miraculously, she survived. And despite persistent threats on her life, she continued her advocacy of girls having access to education. She co-founded the Malala Fund, an international nonprofit focused on this fight.

There is still work to be done. Infrastructure to be built, institutions needing to be changed, but today I write this with deep gratitude for the public education I was able to receive. For the teachers who encouraged me, the curriculum that built the foundations of how to see the world, the pathways I had access to obtain a higher degree. For my grandmother, who instilled in me the importance of learning, and who had ability to obtain a higher degree as well.

UNICEF estimates there are around 122 million girls currently without access to education.

A better world is possible, and I believe that is our future, but there is still work to be done. I am so thankful to Rotary for being part of this incredible mission. by @kt_sneed

Two selfies, two group pictures, ten years apart.

As I arrive state side and have had a chance to reflect on this year’s Rotary International Convention in Taiwan, I’ve found myself awestruck recounting the return to self this trip has brought me.

In 2016, I attended my first convention in Seoul, South Korea. This year, marks my fifth opportunity to travel the world to gather with those who share the same mission of putting Service Above Self.

My history with Rotary predates that first convention, and pathed a path of not just continuity, but pivotal moments curating the core of who I am. From Interact, RYLA, to Rotary Youth Exchange, and now, Rotaract.

Over the years, I’ve presented to over 40 various clubs, 400+ district leaders and club presidents, volunteered my time supporting remarkable organizations, and have followed Rotary across 6 countries.

In the coming days, I’ll be recapping more from the 2026 RI Convention and the remarkable speakers we heard from, ranging from the President of Taiwan, Mayor of Taipei, our incoming Presidents, and the remarkable Malala Yousafzai.

But to kick it off, I just wanted to reflect on Rotary and what it has meant to me over the last 13 years of my 28 on this beautiful planet.

Poetic musings on past moments

All my favorite people are taking time to have fun, learn new skills, allocating activities to gather and express ourselves creatively.

Baking bread, curating casseroles, detailing out the perfect dinner. Clearing clutter, doing dishes, spreading out seeds.

I’ve been pondering the polarities of creation and of destruction as of late. Perhaps it is because the calendar year kicked off with a new life entering this world via a best friend’s birth, my chosen family. And in the more recent passage of time I’ve learned of a loved one’s loss of their loved one. Much like the seasons we get to experience, both literally and metaphorically, there is proliferation and there is deterioration in how we ebb and flow through our day to day. When I look to the earth, I see the privilege of knowing the barren limbs will once more hold fractals of miracles. They will grow, and one hot summer day I’ll sit under them for shade, and once more they will become a spectrum of saturations before shedding.

Then, the cycle begins anew. I’ve found myself maddened and mesmerized analyzing the in between.

All my favorite people are getting married, having babies, deciding to go on their own path while parting ways with old existences.

Everyone really, truly, gets to live their own life. Adjust and adapt to their cycles of existence. How fun and fascinating is that?

Spring, slows me down. If you think of me, know I’m busy savoring the sweetness 🤍 by @kt_sneed

Color Chattanooga Pink Week is HERE!

Join us starting today through January 31st as we come together to raise awareness about breast health, the importance of early detection, celebrate survivors, honor those we’ve lost, and offer support for those currently battling breast cancer.

Our community has shown us so much support already with many local coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques offering signature Pink items!

Thank you so much to Scenic Suds, our title sponsor, and HHM, this year’s presenting sponsor!

I can’t wait to see how you go PINK! with us 💕 by @kt_sneed
