This interaction between Florida head coach Jim McElwain and running back Kelvin Taylor was simply nuts 😂

After scoring a touchdown in Florida’s 31-24 win over East Carolina, Taylor was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after making a throat-slash gesture during his celebration.

When he returned to the sideline, cameras caught McElwain unloading on his star running back in front of teammates, coaches, and more than 90,000 fans.

The clip quickly spread across the college football world. McElwain could be heard yelling, “Look at me! Don’t look down! Be a man! You let your team down,” as he challenged Taylor over what he viewed as a selfish penalty.

Two days later, McElwain addressed the situation publicly. While he stopped short of a full apology, he admitted he regretted how he handled the moment.

“I’m not proud about it, and neither is my mother,” McElwain said. “Am I proud of it? Absolutely not. Do I feel bad about it? Yes.”

Even Taylor’s father, former NFL running back Fred Taylor, said the reaction was probably a little excessive, though he acknowledged both his son and the coach got caught up in the heat of the moment.

McElwain later emphasized how much he cared about his players, while Florida players defended their coach and his message.

Do you remember when this clip took over college football? 🤔
