🥹 I almost came home with a kitten!! Spotted her right in the middle of the road in rural AK. Of course we had to stop and move her. But there was no mama in sight. I took her inside the general store to see if anyone knew where her family was, no luck. There was no way my bleeding heart was leaving her all alone in the cold and rain… so I accepted that I was going to take her home to a shelter or most likely my place 😅 then we saw an old man come outside to fetch the mail. We raced over there to see if he had any info and he did! He guided us a few houses down to her family and I was able to reunite them! I love a happy ending 🥹❤️😭 by @ktbird77

Teddy had the most luxurious tiny Thanksgiving while I was hamster-sitting for my niece! And of course, I staged a full-on photo shoot to surprise her with pics of him enjoying his tiny adventures 🐹 (why am I like this 😅) by @ktbird77

@actionstl appreciation post!! The People’s Response showed up for St. Louis in a way that can’t be overstated. After the May 16 tornado brought so much destruction, they stepped up with real, on the ground help when it was needed most. They built something powerful — a true example of community in action.

The O’Fallon Park hub has closed, but the work keeps going, and they’re still showing up for neighbors every day. Thank you to everyone who keeps giving their time and energy to help rebuild and heal STL 🖤 taken in O'Fallon Park Rec Complex by @ktbird77

I’ve hesitated to share my experience because it pales in comparison to what neighbors in North St. Louis have endured. When the tornado passed through my neighborhood, it was an F1, but by the time it reached theirs, it strengthened to an F3. Their community was hit harder and already carries the weight of being underserved. St. Louis is hurting. Everyone deserves real, urgent help.
But here’s my experience.
Everything happened so incredibly FAST. I got the alert for the tornado warning at 2:34, and by 2:38, it was already on top of us. I didn’t expect to only have four minutes… and it was already too late to make a run for the basement — the stairwell is three stories of windows, and the room I was in wasn’t much better. I crouched down in a corner. The power went out, and the shift in air pressure was intense — my ears popped like crazy. It was so LOUD. When it died down just enough, I bolted barefoot down the stairs. I even left my freaking camera bag behind — which says it all 😐. (I’m sharing this honestly, knowing I didn’t make all the right moves. Please don’t shame me🫣)
It didn’t register what had just happened until I came back up and saw the damage. My next-door neighbors lost most of their roof and part of the back of their building. So many massive, old-growth trees were down across the street, crushing cars and covering everything in debris. People jumped in without a word, working together to clear the streets. I single-handedly cleared my driveway of debris, rocket-fueled by adrenaline. Then I casually showered and got ready without power, still in a weird state of shock, and headed to my friend’s birthday party.
It wasn’t until I finally had a quiet moment alone to check the news that I understood the full scale of what had happened — people had died, and other parts of the city were hit even harder. That was the moment it really sank in.

Orchids are magical ✨
They are so ancient; they were blooming when dinosaurs walked the earth! Orchids are one of the only plants with bilateral symmetry, meaning that, just like a human face, if you were to draw a line down the middle, the two sides would be mirror images!
