The death of my dad this week has given me pause to think about his life, our sometimes strained relationship, and his journey’s affect on me. Looking through his belongings for important documents I found his report cards with pictures from when he was a sweet looking schoolboy in Iran. This boy would grow up to make the critical decision to take his wife and child and leave that country - along with all of his friends and possessions -to start over in a new one. I had to grow up to realize the full magnitude of the courage that took. And I’m so grateful that he didn’t completely leave Iran behind. We grew up in a truly Persian household filled with relatives and traditions and of course incredible Persian food. His years here were not easy ones, and that trickled down to all of us, but he never lost his love of hosting and feeding people while never expecting anything in return. Even on the evening he passed away peacefully, he was sitting in an armchair waiting on his neighbors to come over for dinner. Nora and I had the privilege of spending a whirlwind 24 hours in Dallas last week, beginning with the @emergeeventcollective Dinner, followed by the @jordankahnorchestra spectacular holiday concert—an event we were honored to attend, thanks to their generous hospitality. The concert, which also served as their annual @toysfortotsofficial fundraiser, was an inspiring display of both talent and philanthropy. The next morning, we had the pleasure of gathering with both new acquaintances and long-time vendor friends for a lovely brunch before making a swift return to the airport. It was a whirlwind, but an incredibly fun and memorable experience! by @ktkamali

Highlight reel for J. Putting it on the gram like the proud mama I am. Kid has worked hard and improved year over year. (some were missed because he just wanted to study them so I left them in) - 23 points in one game. (4 free throws not shown) The 💪🏽 makes me chuckle. I love watching him play.
