I used to think being kind meant always being available. Always understanding. Always making room, even when it cost me something. Learning to set boundaries has been uncomfortable…mostly because it changed how some people in my family see me. When you stop over-explaining, over-giving, and over-extending, you realize who was used to having unlimited access to your energy. I’m not shutting people out. I’m protecting myself. As someone who naturally wants to keep the peace, drawing hard lines felt wrong at first. But my mental health needed it. Not everyone will understand the version of me that chooses herself. And that’s okay…they can go head n keep it pushin!! 😂 by @ktlynraps

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I didn’t want it to pass without reminding everyone to take care of their mental health. This month holds a different weight for me now…

I know it can be uncomfortable to look inward and face the parts of ourselves we try to avoid, but I encourage you to try…that’s where the healing begins. Check on your loved ones. Encourage the people you love to talk, to feel, to ask for help when they need it…and give yourself that same grace too.

Being this honest and vulnerable in my music is still new for me. Opening up about what I’ve been through has never come easy but music has always been how I express myself. If you’re carrying something heavy please remember you don’t have to carry it alone!! 💚 by @ktlynraps

Wrote this song because these are some of the thoughts that frequent my mind in the studio. Makes the writing process really difficult for me. A lot of the time I don’t feel good enough or strong enough to keep going in this brutal industry where streams and algorithms swallow ur soul 🫠 lol But I choose to listen to the quieter voice that says keep going. by @ktlynraps

This song is about the war I have with myself. The voice that tells me I’ll never be enough, never get there, never have what it takes. Some days I feel like that girllll 💁‍♀️ Most days I’m losing the fight. This one’s for everyone who knows that feeling but keeps going anyway!! Thank you so much for all the love on this song. This one is really special and personal to me. Writing something this emotional was uncomfortable at first, but it ended up being incredibly healing to let you into my life and my perspective. It’s important to me that my music actually makes an impact. Sometimes that means taking a little more time to craft it the right way.
