What a way to celebrate Father's Day and Juhannus (Midsummer Fest). Amazing Finnish-inspired food, wild flowers, family, laughs, refreshments and @kamusauna on the longest day of the year. It was extremely special, and I highly recommend renting with Kamu Sauna. Niamh and Luke were so thoughtful and went the extra mile for us to make this happen. It even made us change our minds on an electric to a wood sauna! (@joukohaapanen will approve). by @kturcasso

Maria's last gymnastic's meet of the year! It is always nice to finish with the @elkvalleygymnastics club's own meet, the Rocky Mountain Tumble. I heard from so many athletes and parents over the weekend that this is their favourite meet as it is focused on fun. Maria has had a great season. She grew and became more confident with each meet and finished off with her strongest performance to date. We were all extremely proud of her and there may have been some happy tears. What I admire most about her is that while she works hard and cares about her sport, it isn't everything and she can brush off any mishaps and move on. I also love that she genuinely supports and cheers for her teammates and athletes from other clubs. True sportsmanship! Congratulations to Cristina and the EVGC board for hosting a successful event! Solo run out to the new suspension bridge on the Coal Creek Heritage Trail. This was my third challenge of the @stagleaprunningco Spring Fling challenge. Second tournament of the season and wow, it is exhilarating, stressful, emotional and exhausting! These girls make us so proud. This is their first year playing and with each game we see so much growth and success. It is so much fun to hang with this crew of kiddos and parents, and the amazing coach team - @kevinmichaelgiffin @carolyndoyle and @red.flannelphotography. Who knew we would be so grateful to spend weekends in a crowded, extremely loud, super sized gym? @fernievolleyball by @kturcasso

I slipped away to visit one of my oldest friends for her birthday! @eva.castelsky moved down the street from us the summer before Grade 3. I was so upset because I didn't know anyone in my class, and my mom said, 'Well Eva will be in your class!' And I was determined it would be miserable. Fast forward to a week in and we were matching outfits and hairstyles. Eva and her family moved to Victoria later in high school, and I did my undergrad there - so we were together again and even were roommates for a while as we contemplated life's next steps.❤️ I am so grateful to have this friendship, to have shared many memories and adventures with her and Brook over the years, and to have spent the weekend with her family.And yes, there may be a little pressure on them to come visit us in Fernie! I actually took some photos at our annual staff party last night! Celebrating 19 years of the @ferniefix, an amazing partnership and friendship with the beautiful @vcroome_art and the hundreds of individuals who have and continue to make this community magazine so damn amazing. We couldn't do it without them, and of course all of you who keep choosing us for your reading entertainment and advertising needs!Next year is the big 2-0! This party might need to get a bit bigger... by @kturcasso

Last weekend, Maria flew off on her own for a weekend in Toronto to see @sabrinacarpenter with her cousin, @laurrennnnn! While the show was the reason, the highlight was spending time with her auntie, uncle, grandparents and cousins... and of course, shopping! Very proud of her! I definitely was the nervous and emotional one! ❤️ Big thanks to the Toronto crew for making it happen. She had the bestest time. @ghenderson111 @hellosarahhello @tyhenders0n @wjlca by @kturcasso

Grade 5 and Grade 7 for Maria and Aila. And first year of high school for Aila. Hard to believe really, and just enjoying watching them grow and evolve and the laughs and the heartaches and everything in between! ❤️❤️ by @kturcasso

How is it the first day of school? Aila is off to Grade 7 and HIGH SCHOOL! She is very excited to have a locker and to change subjects and rooms throughout the day. Maria is heading into Grade 5 and will be the eldest of her cousins at EIDES with Maija Liisa in Grade 3 and Toivo in Kindergarten! We started off the day as per tradition at Big Bang Bagels with the crew - so grateful these kiddos have one another, and us parents. It was the first year we decided to take a commemorative photo downtown, too. Aren't we cute? Happy back to school, everyone! ❤️ by @kturcasso

This one time, I was talking to @nakodamason about how I missed racing mountain bikes and he was like, you should go check out the Oldman Mayhem in Taber! And I was like, okay! The last few years have been gravel for me. But man, mountain biking is my love. It was a four-hour race with a cut off of 3:25 to go out on your last lap. I am THE WORST at math in races. I thought for sure, I won't make five laps. Cool. But when I came in after three, rich and the girls were so excited - you can do it! My fourth lap was a downer as I could not fathom a FIFTH, but when I came in with four minutes to spare and everyone was cheering me on - what is one more lap?Some highlights:The bagpiper. Enough said. ❤️🏃‍♀️❤️Jeff Boyd who works in Taber as a crop duster, flying over to cheer me on. (Twice!)Hearing, is that Krista? To find @domin.calvin who then found me on course to snap photos.And the people! It is always the best part. Other riders, volunteers, organizers, the kids! Man. It sure stays with you. ❤️So I guess what I am saying. If you are like me, and you question whether you should sign up and do that thing... DO IT! And yes, Maria won a ridiculous raffle prize. And I won onions (plus some amazing @mucoff ). by @kturcasso
