POSTS STORIES REELS

Our first day in business, the Pac-Man machine went up in flames.

That should have been our first clue about the rollercoaster ride ahead.

Yet here we are, celebrating 9 years this Saturday, November 7!

It feels like yesterday we opened our doors to the unknown. I never imagined we’d be where we are today.

To our customers who keep showing up and bringing friends, and the amazing staff who have put so much of themselves into this place: we couldn’t have done it without you. Brent and I will never take that for granted.

We’re releasing Bock Happens, our accidentally created Bock. A fitting reminder of the mistakes we've made, the lessons we’ve learned, and the good that comes from things not going according to plan.

We might not even get the can labels in time. Nine years in, and we’re still providing examples.

Joining it is Freshly Unsupervised, our Fresh Hop Pale Ale. A nod to our staff and the ideas they’ve dreamed up on their own. Turns out, leaving them unsupervised has its benefits.

On the menu: Caja China roasted turkey legs alongside other festival favorites.

On the agenda:
Baby goat petting, 1:30–3 pm. Tickets through the link in our bio.
Lederhosen Junkies, 4–7 pm.
And Hammer-Schlagen, of course.

Come raise a glass with us. You helped get us here.

Would you hire him?

We did.

Arch was the first person to walk into our construction zone looking for a job. He understood my Ripley references, knew Deckard from Blade Runner, and agreed to feed the cats. How could I not hire him?

He wanted to work the bar. We put him in the kitchen. Close enough.

Then came Starr, my daughter Emma, the other Emma, Ethan, Sascha, JD, Christine, Bobbie, Danny… and so many more.

Nine years of Künstler. So many faces, memories, and characters along the way.

Some stayed briefly, some stayed for years, and some are still putting up with us. Every one of them helped make Künstler what it is today.

If we missed your picture, we haven’t forgotten you. We love you all! ❤️

And Arch? Nine years later, he’s still here. Probably feeding the cats.

Recognize any familiar faces? by @kuenstlerbrew

I wanted to make beer. Somehow, I ended up with a jackhammer.

The plan was a small brewery with a little two-barrel brewing system. We bought a giant warehouse instead. Our budget hadn’t grown with it.

So Brent and I did a lot of the construction ourselves, with help from some wonderful people who believed in us enough to show up and lend a hand. Or muscle.

It helped that they liked beer.

Those German stripes? I painted them myself. Getting them straight and the proportions right was VERY important to me.

Then we put all the brewing equipment in front of them. 😳

And that drywall I’m proudly standing in front of? A friend floated it for us. We then proceeded to run into it with a forklift. 🤣

To everyone who helped us build this place: thank you. Looking at these pictures brings it all back.

Nine years in, Bock still happens.

Come celebrate November 7. We’ll be serving Bock Happens—a beer with a story of its own. by @kuenstlerbrew

“Thanks for wasting my time.”

That’s what I told our realtor the first time he showed me this building. I took one look from the car and didn’t even bother getting out.

Two years later, we still hadn’t found a home for Künstler.

So I called Starr Sr, a good friend's Dad. He’d worked in construction and had been helping us look. He hadn't been sold on anything we'd seen either. I figured if Starr could see potential in this place, we’d buy it.

He got out of his car, looked around, and said, “Hmmm.”

“Right?” I said. “It’s a piece of shite.”

“No,” he said. “I can see it now. People on the patio, chatting and enjoying your beer. A beautiful long bar inside. Enough room for production...oh and the train spotting!”

Well. One of us had vision. 😂

With our ninth anniversary coming up, I’ll be sharing a few pictures and stories of how it all began. Starting with the building I wouldn’t get out of the car for.

Come celebrate nine years with us on November 7. Apparently, Starr Sr. was onto something. by @kuenstlerbrew

Before it’s your beer, it’s our day’s work.

Brewed right here at Künstler. A whole lot of lifting, cleaning, checking, waiting. Then more cleaning.

There’s something cathartic about it. Working with your hands. The smell of the mash. Getting lost in the work for a while. Then getting to share what you made.

Max and Arch just finished packaging Verklemmt, our Czech Lager. Seeing those cans lined up is a pretty good feeling.

Watching you enjoy it is even better. 🍻 by @kuenstlerbrew

People ask me all the time what Gemütlichkeit means.
There really isn't a direct English translation.
It's a feeling. Being together. Sharing a table. Good food and Bier. Family and friends. Laughter. Music. That feeling that you're exactly where you want to be, with people you're happy to be with.
Looking through these pictures from our Oktoberfest, I think they explain it better than I ever could.
For nine days, you filled our tables, raised your glasses, brought your families, your friends and your dogs, and made Künstler feel exactly the way we always hoped it would.
Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us.
And if you missed it this year, maybe these pictures will explain why you shouldn't miss the next one.
This is Gemütlichkeit. 🧡
P.S. We’re not quite done yet. The Oktoberfest menu continues through October 4 (or until you eat us out of it), and we’ve tapped our oak-aged Oktoberfest, Oaktoberfest.
And we still have one more thing to settle. Our final Steinholding competition is October 3 at 3 PM. by @kuenstlerbrew

Prost, y'all! 🍻 Come meet our adorable baby goats at Künstler Brewing for GOATOBERFEST. It's a celebration of all things Oktoberfest 🥨 with a delightful four-legged farm twist. Welcome to Baaaaa-varia, where the beer is cold, the goats are cuddly, and the lederhosen and dirndls are strongly encouraged.

Each ticket includes a pour of Leichts out!, a Light Lager style beer brewed by @kuenstlerbrew, so you can raise a stein while you soak in the goat snuggles. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the kids, bring your friends, and get ready to get festive with the cutest honorary Baaaaa-varians! 🎉

This is the time we wait all year for.

The Künstler Oktober Festbier is ready. Ziggy, our Märzen is ready. The 2 ft Über Brat is very definitely ready.

And tomorrow at noon we finally get to tap the first Festbier.

Nine days of Oktoberfest at Künstler. Some traditions, some ridiculous ideas, and a whole lot of people we're looking forward to seeing again.

See you tomorrow. Prost! by @kuenstlerbrew

I knew we were making a 2-foot brat.
I apparently did not fully comprehend what a 2-foot brat looks like.

Good Lord. 😂

The Giant Brat makes its debut Saturday for the opening of Künstler Oktoberfest.

Come have dinner with us. by @kuenstlerbrew

We gave Arch a grill.
This may have been a mistake. 🔥 😂

However...First Friday also happens to kick off Labor Day weekend, so he's firing up the Künstler Grill tomorrow.

Hot dogs, brats, and burgers on the grill. Beer in your glass. Maybe we can even hope for a little less heat outside.

And keep drinking Working Fire so that we stay on good terms with the fire department 😜 by @kuenstlerbrew
