There are brides you photograph, and there are brides who quietly command the entire frame the moment they look up.
This was the second kind.
Every detail told a story - the white chandan tracing delicate vines across her brow, the gold nath catching the light, the layered kundan and pearls resting against an orange Banarasi that practically glowed. And those hands. Shiva and Parvati rendered in mehndi, a love story written in henna before a single vow was spoken.
But it wasn't the jewelry or the silk that stopped me. It was the stillness. The way she carried all of it - the weight of tradition, the gold, the gaze - like it was simply hers.
Some beauty asks to be noticed. Hers just was.
Congratulations, Kuhokee. It was an honor to witness this day. 🌸

Our Ashirvaad 💍💞 eternally grateful to our parents, our family, our closest and dearest friends who made this possible. Missing Baba at every step of the way, but I felt his presence strongly as I sat next to Indro (and my niece & nephew haha) during our puja.

Today, I share my birthday with my father. I’d wait up every midnight to touch his feet and give him a long hug. Delighted, he would always tell me I was his greatest gift, his heart. That his whole life changed when I was born and he was sure the Mother Goddess Herself blessed him.

I don’t have that anymore. Not really, anyway. Now I have his pictures. I have the pull in my heart that I believe to be his undying love, a place I can access whenever I wish. And I wish I could say I’m happy and excited about turning a year older, but the sadness lives with whatever happiness and gratitude I experience. Today and every day. I’ll always miss him with my dearest heart. But I also know he’s somewhere, beaming and radiant. Even more so as he was when he was my father. I love you Baba, forever. ♥️ by @kuhokee
