Festival Summary:
The 7th edition of the Sikhlens: Sikh Arts and Film Festival in Chandigarh, held on 28th February 2026, marked a momentous occasion, celebrating the festival’s 25-year global journey since its inception in the United States in 2001. As the longest continuously running film festival in Chandigarh since 2020, this year’s event was helmed by acclaimed National Award-winning film director Shri Ojaswwee Sharma (68th National Film Awards), who serves as the honorary festival director for Sikhlens India. The festival successfully drew over 4,000 visitors, delegates, filmmakers, and performers from across India and the globe. The event was free for everyone.
A landmark achievement of this edition was the historic presence of Sikhlens Country Directors from the USA, Canada, the UK, and India, who united to further the festival’s international impact. The program was a resounding success, featuring a curated selection of over 25 films from six countries, 15+ immersive exhibitions showcasing over 1,000 heritage items, and five captivating performances that brought Sikh history and artistic traditions to life.
Central to this edition was the festival's profound commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.
A core highlight was the presentation of the Sikhlens Honors, a prestigious recognition of 41 extraordinary contributions across five distinct categories: Chardi Kala (12 honors) for res taken in Chandigarh, India by @kuljit3445
