veneer → white quartz → white PU → veneer

The ceiling height did us a huge favour, giving us an extra layer of storage that completely changed how this kitchen functions.

Our real flex though is how we converted an originally positioned master bedroom to a kitchen and mandir. The secret to this is literally hidden behind the walls.

The floating food bar brings together veneer, Panda marble and matt PU. Sitting at their junction, it divides the composition while making the material transition deliberate.

The marble itself is detailed with a mitred edge that conceals a line of light within. It was one of those details that looked simple on paper but took considerable effort to execute.

Above, the veneer meets the PU once again, this time to conceal the air-conditioning unit. The two materials keep reappearing throughout the space.

The living room is held together by two pieces of art.

Both walls were designed around them from day one.

The first began with a constraint. A beam projected almost 100 mm into the room, becoming the starting point for the entire composition. The door was brought forward and aligned flush with the beam, while a brushed stainless steel band frames the wallart by Kalakari Haath, allowing it to read like an artwork.

The + . + . + motif extends this composition. It is precisely etched into the HDMR panelling, continues seamlessly onto the brushed stainless steel door handle, and quietly ties the entire wall together. Easily one of our favourite details in the house.

The second is a handcrafted textile artwork by the artisans at Woven Mysteries. It took over 2000 + hours of meticulous embroidery to bring it to life—every thread placed with extraordinary patience and precision.

These are the works we gravitate towards. Pieces where craftsmanship is visible, where the maker’s hand is unmistakable, and where time itself becomes the most valuable material.

The design language of this home celebrates two ideas.

Indian traditional—not frozen in time.
Indian contemporary—not forgetting where it comes from.

The bar sit-out captures this beautifully.

Details 🕵️‍♂️

The family already owned this intricately crafted timber home bar, and replacing it was never an option. Instead, we chose to continue its story.

It blends into the primary living room seamlessly yet holds it’s space.

Part 1 - A Panda marble top and skirting extend its footprint, making it more functional for the way the family entertains today. A subtle textured backdrop allows the timber craftsmanship to remain the focal point, while a floating veneer-and-metal unit above introduces a lighter, contemporary layer.

The result is not old meeting new ❌

The first clue to the house is the entrance itself.

The foyer is a grand, off-centred arched volume that introduces the house. Within a 4 m × 2.6 m footprint, timber arches span the space before terminating at a floating entrance unit.

The deliberate gap between the two creates a sharp break in both material and form. The relationship between the floating unit and the entrance door is one of those simple ideas that only become powerful when carried through with precision.

And ofcourse it frames the house itself.

The house starts becoming personal right at the entrance. The main door handle extends into the flooring as a custom metal inlay, telling a story developed specifically for the family. An heirloom bedpost has been repurposed as a floor lamp.

Two flush doors sit quietly within the walls, allowing the architecture to take precedence over the joinery.

It wasn’t the easiest detail to insert a door in a floating unit with a sharp gap.

🚪🤍

The experience doesn’t stop at the threshold. The same arched language continues into the lobby passage outside, making even the common corridor feel like an extension of the home.

And the double door experience is seamless. taken in Lower Parel by @kund.persquareunit

One door. Two identities.

Perhaps that’s what makes a door so fascinating. It doesn’t simply separate spaces; it belongs to both.

From the living, each door quietly dissolves into the architecture. Flushed with the walls, its textures and veneer allow it to become part of the space rather than interrupt it.

Step through, and the very same door transforms. It adopts the language of the room beyond, with its own material, colour and details.

The threshold remains the same. Its identity changes with the space it belongs to.

“Don’t design for our guests. Design for us.”

We love clients who aren’t afraid to question the default settings of a home.

Introducing Nitya +.+.+.+.+

A 5 BHK upwards of 2000 sqft became a generous -
2 BHK, moulding to the exact needs of our couple.

✔️ A master suite with a walk-in wardrobe.
✔️ A proper dining room because every meal deserves one.
✔️ A den that can be whatever the day demands.
✔️ One family room that doubles up as the family’s sleepover room whenever the kids and guests come over.
✔️ A spacious kitchen opening to the dining room.
✔️ A utility and wet room, hence the front of house can be chaos free

One pleasant surprise? The Vastu process. Rather than limiting the design, our consultant’s inputs helped improve an already well-thought-out layout.

Sometimes good planning isn’t about fitting more into a plan. It’s about having the confidence to leave things out. This planning was too much fun!
