Waking up in the comfort of my bed, I grapple with the weight of knowing my children are safe while others endure the heart-wrenching cries of theirs in the darkness. Witnessing the devastation in an entire country, I question how the world can stand by, seemingly indifferent.

The anguish deepens as innocent lives are lost, and the notion of a safe haven becomes increasingly elusive for the people of Palestine. Global inaction, often, nah scratch that...definitely driven by political alliances, reflects a disheartening reality.

The term 'genocide' takes on a stark significance when juxtaposed with the tragic events unfolding in Palestine. It's difficult to comprehend how, in our modern era, such atrocities persist, with innocent infants paying the ultimate price.

Disappointment resonates not only with global powers but also within the borders of my own country and the nation I call home. The term 'ceasefire' loses its intended meaning as conflicts persist, highlighting the helplessness of those in positions of influence.

Looking at the faces of my children, I know they are safe, yet I can not shake the images of mothers holding lifeless bodies, children lost and hurt, and people buried alive under rubble. This is no longer a problem for them; it transcends national boundaries.

Yet, I am never the one to openly discuss or share my political views on any given situation, I truly believe that this moment ignites a sincere wish for the ability to make a difference, serving as a poignant reminder of the collective shame staining our shared existence in this world. taken in Australia by @kunsin

21st of January, 2025 was the last time we had @eatrascal because man oh man, the past three times we had gotten food from there had been absolutely shiiiiiiiii....bad.

Today though, Charlestown changed that which also made me test out a theory, what if both locations are good now? What if...? Could it be? Yes, it is possible and it did happen.

Pop over to good ol' Google daddy to read the review about getting only 7 chips for a kids meal to soggy tots and what not...but for now, let me tell you that their Dim Sim Burger has to be their best special I've had and the Jerk Chicken goes as hard as the first time I had it.

@eatrascal I am keen to know what's happened, how did you guys improve, change things around. Love it, keep it up and can't wait for more.

Recipe Testing: You know how you can get orange juice with pulp? Yeah...I like those ones. This is not orange juice, nor is it pretty, but that's exactly how it is when you design recipes. Just a testing phase.

Ginger cold brew (Arlo Coffee Co. Kenya Kamwangi AA, Frekl double ginger beer), topped with mandarin cold foam - pulp and all.

Berry-forward, mildly pretentious, and yes I made a cold foam with pulp for my own coffee before 9am.

Someone please tell me when a coffee stops being a coffee.

@thepavementsociety have such a good vibe. Very good coffee, very good food and top service.

My go to whenever I get myself there:

Prosciutto Please
Cream cheese, prosciutto, stracciatella, rocket, and green sauce all in the softest freshest foccacia.

Truffle Mushroom Toastie
Double gouda cheese, sauteed mushrooms, truffle oil, rocket, cream cheese, garlic aioli, and pickled onions sandwiched between some sourdough.

Throw in a oat flatty or batchy (weekends only for now) and I am all set. Though I've also been sneaking in their matcha and cold foam options every now and then.

They've been running our Kenyan Kamwangi on batchy for a few weeks now - every weekend.

If you head towards Speers Point or Boolaroo make sure to stop in to see these legends.

Sarah loves the vegemite scroll from there too 😉

@boltonstpantry French Toast, the coconut one.

Didn't even look at the menu before I walked into Bolton St Pantry today, just went in on a whim...and walked out very happy about it.

Turns out they do a few takes on the French Toast:
- Classic or Coconut or Biscoff

I went coconut, obviously. Being from the islands, coconut is in pretty much everything back home, so I'm always a bit particular about how it's done. This was good - toasted properly, real crunch, worked through the dish rather than just sitting on top. Comes with a coconut sauce too, which tied the whole thing together nicely.

Toast itself was solid underneath - custardy in the middle, a bit of crisp on the edge - no dry bits, the coconut sauce was a vibe too.

Didn't touch the biscoff one this time. No shade to it, biscoff just had its whole moment where it was everywhere and I went pretty hard on it back then, so I'm good skipping it for a while. Coconut was always going to be the pick for me.

Also, World Coconut Day is a real thing and it is TODAY! Under-the-radar for how good this ingredient is. Good excuse to go order this one.

Coconut French toast, coconut sauce, no regrets.
