Look, the truth of the matter is that I’ve been hating on myself & this country pretty hard this year. The effort of leaning into a birthday party (however “chill”) felt excruciating, as it often does for me. I know I’m not unique in this way, but it’s deeply sad to be confronted with how little I think I matter to this world on a day that asks to celebrate me. Thankfully I have some very special people that force feed me love and absurdly yummy homemade cake and make me trinkets for my garden and blow lots and lots of bubbles and paint their faces and sing me Natasha Bedingfield (twice) for my birthday song and make art for/of me and forgive me when I’m grumpy at my own party and and and and maybe birthdays are just an opportunity to regress safely and maybe I’ll live to see 32. ❤️‍🩹 by @kuntytheklown
