The artists of ECHOES do not view the past through a nostalgic lens. They neither reconstruct historical visual worlds nor search for a supposed origin. Instead, they reveal just how deeply our perspective is shaped by images created long before our time. Their works demonstrate that images are never merely representations. They shape our perceptions, create a sense of belonging, reinforce hierarchies and influence social realities. Today, more images are produced, shared and consumed than ever before. We would like to thank everyone who joined us for the grand opening yesterday! We look forward to seeing you again next week, when we will be open from Thursday to Sunday, 2–7 pm. ECHOES brings together artistic works that explore the lasting effects of images. It examines how visual representations travel through history, become embedded in our collective memory and continue to influence our perception to this day. The focus is not solely on art-historical references. Artist Spotlight: Felix Giesen„Felix Giesen is interested in the visual construction of social roles and collective identities. For works such as „Für Verdienste“, he processes photographs of fraternity meetings, which he uses to train AI models he has developed specifically for this purpose. He then transfers the resulting visual worlds onto canvas using printing techniques and painterly interventions.
