There are nice people and then there are *nice people*. Those eyes are not lying.
He's a recent graduate of Penn State University with his degree in Civil Engineering, working as a Staff Engineer for a prestigious company. He's the latest bloom on a very successful family tree, full of people just as nice and hard working as he is.
I always say the camera doesn't lie and it'll tell on you- you're not nice, there's no hiding it. We *just know* from a picture. Right? Well that also goes for warmth; their eyes, their countenance, their atmosphere just leaks light and the camera sort of brags on their behalf... and that's what we have here.
And so I announce that I love this portrait because it's just so real.
Affable, sharp, achingly sweet and unchanging.

I am a direct descendant of an American Revolutionary War 2nd Lieutenant. While visiting his grave at New Providence Church here in Jersey, I spotted this sweet little bird watching me. He sang a little, flew here and there, but kept watching me while flitting from one headstone to another. I finally turned my lens on him, & got only 2 clicks of the shutter before he flew across the street and landed on a street sign, still watching. I called out "Thank you!" and I meant it. He was beautiful.
I love birds. I could never own one bc I couldn't bear clipping it's wings, so to speak, any more than I can bear anyone clipping mine.
And here's our circle back moment to my 8x great grandfather laid to rest in his own church yard, dying from wounds he suffered at Newark Bay, fighting for the freedom of this country- refusing to surrender his freedoms under pressure.
I never will, either.
