For over two decades I traveled the world managing artists, living in the middle of massive concerts, stadiums, security cordons, backstage entrances, and crowds. Somewhere along the way, I stopped enjoying large public gatherings. These days, if there’s a festival, fireworks, or any event with huge crowds, I’d usually rather stay home. But the FIFA World Cup coming to Seattle was different. It had always been on my bucket list. I had once hoped I’d experience it in Mumbai. Life had other plans, and when it came to the city I now call home, I knew I had to go, even with all my hesitation. My first stop was Pioneer Square with a couple of colleagues, and within minutes something unexpected happened. I relaxed. For the first time in years, I wasn’t constantly checking my pockets or looking over my shoulder. I simply enjoyed the moment. Thousands of people from every corner of the world were smiling, laughing, singing, taking photos together, and celebrating the beautiful game. I can’t remember the last time I felt that safe in such a large crowd. That experience changed something in me. I went back for more, including matches at the stadium, and every single time it was the same: incredibly well organized, welcoming, and full of people who were there simply to celebrate football and each other. Even though the USA lost to Belgium, it didn’t take away from what was an unforgettable experience.Seattle, you’ve genuinely helped me get over what was almost a fear of crowds. Thank you to the volunteers, organizers, the city, and every fan who made it feel so welcoming. And to a country that many still don’t think of as a traditional football nation—you showed the world exactly how to host a World Cup. It wasn’t just about football. It was about community, joy, and reminding people that thousands of strangers can come together in peace and leave with nothing but great memories. @kiro7seattle @seattle @seahawks @soundersfc by @kurianben

Today might be the last time I get to watch Lionel Messi on a FIFA World Cup final stage. If it is, thank you, Leo, for the memories, the magic, and for redefining what football can look like.I’ve always been a Brazil supporter, but there has always been something about Argentine superstars. First Maradona. Then Messi. Pure genius. Rivalries come and go, but greatness deserves to be appreciated, no matter which flag you support.Win or lose today, it has been an absolute privilege to watch you. Thank you, Messi, and thank you to all the greats who made this era unforgettable. As the final whistle blows today, I think I’m officially retiring from being this emotionally invested in football. It’s simply not good for my heart. 😅 Football will never be the same. @fifaworldcup @fifa #madememoires by @kurianben
