Real growth often requires stepping outside the familiarity of one’s primary discipline.

My time in the EMDP at IIM Kozhikode over the past year hasn’t been about moving away from creativity, but rather grounding it in the complexities of business strategy.

2025 was a year of profound learning; I look forward to applying this broader dimension of leadership in 2026.

Mumbai Climate Week is India’s first global platform for climate conversations. It showcases solutions and initiatives relevant to the Global South’s response to climate change.

Sideways was commissioned to develop the brand identity for Mumbai Climate Week. The identity embodies the concept of the Earth’s biosphere, where diversity, ecosystems, and ideas are interconnected, strengthening one another and driving collective climate action as one unified force.

Hence, inspired by Indian weaving and embroidery traditions, the identity brings together all the SDG motifs to form a globe.

These motifs also come alive in the brand communication, making the brand rooted in culture and connecting worldwide ambition with a strong sense of Indianness. by @kurnal

Same trust. New momentum.

Presenting Federal Bank's refreshed identity that is digital, confident, and still deeply human. It brings together strategic clarity and creative expression, articulating how Federal Bank has grown with the times while remaining firmly rooted in its core values.

The brand’s insignia has been redefined and modernised as a central asset as the ‘Fortuna Wave’. The three waves represent authenticity, togetherness, and prosperity; the values that guide Federal Bank’s journey of progress from a locally trusted brand to a nationwide and increasingly global player. by @kurnal

Earlier this year, I began a new chapter as an independent brand design consultant. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with the brilliant team at @sidewaysconsulting on a range of exciting projects.
The most rewarding part of this journey has been reimagining the Sideways brand itself - crafting a bold, contemporary identity that reflects who they are today. The new website brings that vision to life, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

A little pocket of calm that reminded us we needed that little pause to reboot.

The kind of place where mornings stretch into long, lazy breakfasts, and kids roam free between swims and snacks, the kind of easy rhythm that carries you through the day.

Before you know it, lunch turns into tea, and tea into dinner under a quiet sky and familiar laughter.

@hideawayeightyeight has that rare warmth, every little detail thought through, from the home-cooked meals to the way the space just flows.

A little gem of a spot for a quiet break, just two hours out of Bombay, surrounded by calm, green, and great company. 🌿💚 by @kurnal

Today, 3rd December, marks the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy—one of the worst disasters caused by the corporate greed of Union Carbide.

I designed these posters back in 1999 for @maheshmathai feature film Bhopal Express. I was 22 years old, fresh out of college, and had just started my design studio, Grandmother India.

Though they might feel a bit raw after 25 yrs, My love for typography is evident. I am truly grateful to Mahesh for giving me the opportunity and freedom to interpret the film through my lens.
• Poster 01: Captures the essence of the story through the lens of the movie’s two main characters.
• Poster 02: Depicts the couple’s wedding night, which tragically coincides with the disaster—their last day together in this world.
• Poster 03: Highlights the pivotal role of the train and train station in how the tragedy unfolded for the people of Bhopal.

🙏🏾 Peace to all those who lost their lives. by @kurnal

Dear Padmini,
My love for you is eternal. I have been fascinated and in awe of you since childhood. You have so many avatars, and so many beautiful stories to tell.
By the time I reached college, I was in love with you, and by 1997, I was totally obsessed with you. I have stalked you for years, during the early hours of dawn just after your morning washdown, looking all fresh and sexy. Glowing at night with radiance and in full party mood. I became so obsessed and inspired by you, that I started creating art projects, installations, documentaries and a short film dedicated to you.
I can’t believe I won’t be seeing you around anymore, I will miss you forever.

Your eternal lover
Kurnal Rawat
