I’m really happy with the way the car is sitting at the moment. I’ve pictured it in my head this way for a while now. Just in time for warm weather. I’m ready to put some miles on it!

I’ve had some time to focus on the interior while I wait for tires to show up from Japan. The door panels were refinished in “mocha latte” houndstooth. I pulled the dashboard and painted it black. The peanut butter carpet is gone and has been replaced with OEM black carpets. And I picked up a roll bar from the @lilmiata and had it painted in Silica Breath to match the SSRs. I am super happy with how everything is slowly coming together!

I debated changing the color many times throughout the process. I kept thinking back to a certain vision I have for the car and I just couldn’t imagine it in any other color. I even debated if I wanted to add some kind of pearl or metallic look, but eventually decided to go with the original color Mazda’s brilliant black.

I chose to have the jams and trim outs painted on their own so most of the car could be assembled for painting the body. This lowers the risk of scratching or damaging the outside of the freshly painted body panels.
