Well I couldn’t splurge on the box set since I’m paying off Oasis tickets until I’m sixty four, so this double LP version will have to do…but my oh my what a day! The Rubber Soul deluxe edition is finally out.

It must have been 1992 or something.. I was about five years old when I first heard Rubber Soul. I remember being completely fascinated by it. The sound of the guitars, the harmonies, the melodies, the way the songs flowed into each other. I didn’t know what any of that meant yet, but I knew I wanted to make music, and be a musician from that very moment the music came out of the speakers of my Uncles car. My career path was set!

I’ve listened to this album for most of my life and it’s still one of my favorite records ever made. So hearing Rubber Soul again in this new mix is pretty special. This isn’t just a classic album to me. This is one of the records that started everything!!

I'm so excited to announce that there will be a KIP BROWN Tribute show at GENOS on Fri, OCT 23! Let's get together to honor an absolute ICON one last time. This Oct, Kip (my Dad) would have turned 70 and he always used to celebrate his birthday with an amazing rock 'n' roll show at Geno's. As most of you know, Kip was the first person to ever play Geno's Rock Club and set the tone for it to be a punk and rock 'n' roll bar. Big shoes to fill, but I will lead THE PONTIFFS one last time so Kip's songs can be heard.

We have the best bands for you

CRYIN' CALEB, THE GAMMA GOOCHIES, THE PONTIFFS, KURT BAKER & THE 3AM'S and COVERED IN BEES...need I say anything else! Doors at 7, music at 730!

On Thursday, I was leaving my apartment to head back to my parents for the weekend. On my back was a heavy backpack filled with work stuff, and in my hand was a heavy suitcase full of laundry. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw a package for me in the lobby of my building. I could’ve easily kept it in my apartment for the weekend, but I decided “nah, it’s coming home with me.” I was too lazy to go back up, despite the heavy load I already had to carry home.

It wasn’t until I got on the Long Island Railroad that I opened the package. It was none other than records by my pal @kurtmiltonbaker!

While we have been following each other on social media for a while, our interactions weren’t too many. I am embarrassed to say that he has been to almost all the same @theburkhartsmusic shows I’ve been to, and I’ve neglected to talk to him at every single one of them. I didn't notice him there! 🤦‍♂️

Thankfully, not only have our interactions increased since all those Burkharts shows, but my appreciation and fanship for him and his music have also gone up. He was very gracious to send me two of his records: an EP of covers called 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗜𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱, and a 45 of his original tune “Undertow Afterglow.”

I am tremendously enjoying his music. His covers are clearly recorded by someone with a true love and energetic appreciation for his influences, and his originals would make his musical heroes proud.

Thanks again Kurt for sending me your records! Since we are practically NYC neighbors, hopefully we will get to see eachother before the next Burkharts show. 🙂

Recently, @kurtmiltonbaker uncovered a lost, unreleased album recorded in Madrid during the pandemic with Ola Ersfjord and Mark O’Flaherty. First up is “Wonder Woman,” a ’70s arena-rock-inspired single backed by his take on Slade’s “When Fantasy Calls.”

And... what better way to celebrate this release than at Beauty Bar’s 30th Anniversary Bash in NYC?!

After living in Madrid for a long time and moving to NYC, I’ve been reminiscing about years past and digging through my old demos, cassettes, hard drives, and forgotten recordings.

That’s how I rediscovered a whole unreleased album I recorded during the pandemic in Madrid with two of my favorite buddies, @olaersfjord and @markoflaherty1971 .

“Wonder Woman” was produced by Ola, who also played guitar and sang, while Mark and I wrote the song and he added guitar and vocals. Jesus Alonso Garcia added some great drums and percussion. Irene Tieso sang back ups.

Crawling out of a post-Covid rubble, the “Wonder Woman“ and subsequent “Gong Show Album” recording sessions were more of a party, rather than an actual professional studio recording experience. Very few photos exist from these days - perhaps for good reason - or because we were too busy enjoying life outside of strict confinement .

I’m excited to finally share it with you. And hey - there is a Slade deep cut cover tacked on as the bside !
