ENTOURAGE/ Game of Thrones Mutant Vehicle. This obviously “Fit” fellow was part of the group showing an incredible vehicle themed after the Game of Thrones. I photographed the vehicle, but felt this gentleman deserved a photograph of his own. Shot was not posed as he stood with the vehicle. #gameofthronescar #blackrockdesert #mutantvehicle #burningmanphotography by @kurtmolnar

INGRESS / Vehicles lined up for miles on the last stretch of pavement before going onto the Black Rock Desert floor. Waiting to get in,or waiting to get out, is part of the experience. You expect it prepare for it & accept as part of the experience. U make the most of it & know you’re getting closer to an amazing week ahead. Everyone is always upbeat heading in… even if not moving. This Monday morning it had rained on the Playa forcing all vehicle movement to a halt. Things backed up for 30 miles waiting 12 hours for the playa to dry out enough to drive on. DUSTY PHOTOGRAPHER - Temple of Grace 2014 - Always like to spend some time in the Temple. Such a special & unique place to remember lost friends & loved ones. After the “Embrace” burn on Thurs morning, I took refuge in the Temple when a powerful dust storm set in. Met a talented photographer named Gary Draluck. He was just as completely dusted as I was. Sitting on the “playa floor”, we decided to shoot dusty portraits of each other. Coincidentally, Gary & I had the exact same camera & lens set up, so we used each other’s camera to shoot our pictures. This way, the images would be on our own camera, with no need to send the files to each other. So, this is me holding Gary’s camera while he shot with mine. Same process when I shot Gary’s photo. It was a great moment & I made a new friend that morning. The Playa is full of surprises & unpredictable delights in the dust. Notice my nose is free of dust from having pressed the camera against my face. Thanks Gary for making this image which says a lot about being a dedicated photographer out there. It’s extremely hard on camera equipment. I spend hundreds after a burn just to clean & repair them, but it’s worth it. You can always get another camera, but you can’t duplicate the photo opportunities anywhere else. PLAYA DANCE 2014 Burning Man
Captured a graceful moment frozen in time, dust & exquisite Playa light. Tuesday evening Photographers Camera Walk. Fun to stroll with 100 other photographers out into the evening as the light fades & night takes over. As photographers see & shoot whatever catches their eye, the group sort of just splinters off to wherever the night leads.
