You knew the cotton. You met the wool. Here’s what they became.

A cushion, quilted by hand in Guelph.

The face: Kala Cotton, rainfed, handspun and handwoven in Kutch, Gujarat. @kutch_craft_studio

Hello Munbai, We are exciting to come Mumbai. It is going to our first debut exhibition in Mumbai.

Sound of Kutch....

The land for the pastrol communities, Here an equal number of animals and humans live together. It was time when land here was reserved for cattle Harding, for our animals after industrialization villages are losing land. But our deep connection between humans and nature remains the same.

While working with the pastor community we realised their bond with animals. Most of the Rabari embroidery motifs are inspired from Animals, birds and other species around them. Earlier Rabari people were travelling thousands of kilometres in search of food and water so they were not possessing materialist things . while in search of foods and waters women were doing hand embroidery in their free time.

Meet Chetan Rajgor, the hands and heart behind our Kala Cotton collection at VASANTHA.

In the dry expanses of Kutch, where few crops survive, Kala Cotton thrives. It is one of the few remaining ‘Old World’ cottons—pure, rain-fed, and organic by nature. But turning this short-staple cotton into a wearable fabric requires a touch that is both gentle and incredibly skilled.

Chetan doesn’t just weave fabric; they weave resilience. Every textured yard you see at the exhibition carries the story of the soil it grew in and the generations of wisdom it took to tame it.
