Ever wondered how we keep the ice from cracking? 🧊

We have Japanese Precision to thank.

Temper fanning is a Japanese bartending technique used to gently warm the surface of clear ice with a steady fan before the drink is poured over it. This helps prevent thermal shock, keeping the ice intact rather than letting a sudden change in temperature cause it to crack.

It’s a small ritual you’ll see in action at Kwãnt, but one that makes a big difference.

There’s more history in the Kwãnt uniform than you might think.

The white jacket worn behind our bar traces its roots back a century, to Harry Craddock and the American Bar at The Savoy. When Craddock took over in 1926, he introduced a distinctive short white jacket inspired by the uniforms of 19th-century druggists, traditionally paired with dark trousers, a white shirt and black tie.

Over the decades, details changed with the times, but the white jacket remained. It became synonymous with a particular standard of bartending, hospitality and service at the American Bar.

For @eriklorincz, who spent years behind that bar himself, bringing an interpretation of the jacket to Kwãnt carries that history forward. Our team wears it knowing what came before them, and what it represents within the profession.

Nearly 100 years later, the white jacket is still behind the bar. And we’re proud to wear ours.

A few weeks ago, we asked whether you wanted to see how we infuse the tequila behind ASHY, and the answer was pretty clear.

Making the ROASTY ☕

Roasty starts with freshly ground coffee before Flor de Caña rum meets tropical water, made from clarified passion fruit, mango and banana, balanced with agave and sugar.
