The people of Arima did their part. The Dial Dynamos did not.
The Arima North Secondary football programme thanks the supporters who came out to cheer on the young men against St Benedict’s College.
They did not get a worthy performance in return. But the team will be at work trying to set that right for our next home game against Fatima College at the Arima Velodrome from 3.40pm on Saturday 3 October.
Thanks for the love, Arima! We’d work harder… ✊🏾💕

⚽ How many footballers can trace part of their journey back to this man?

For this episode of People of La Horquetta, we shine a light on Autrill “Frenchie” Besson and his contribution to football in our community.

This one is a little different.

Through photographs of some of the players he helped develop, and a voice note from Ms. Sebro, we get a glimpse of Freichie’s impact on generations of La Horquetta football.

Because sometimes a legacy isn’t measured by the goals you scored…

but by the players you helped develop.

And looking through these pictures, one thing is clear:

There’s a story here that deserves to be told.

🎤 We’re working on getting an interview with Freichie so that we can hear that story in his own words.

⚽ Some teams win games. Some teams change culture.

I’ve asked several people about their favourite football teams from La Horquetta.

Plenty names have been called. Plenty arguments could be made.

But there’s one team I don’t hear nearly enough about.

DRUG FREE.

You just had to be there.

At a time when football in La Horquetta had a certain edge, attitude and swagger, Drug Free went in a completely different direction.

The name. The message. The rhythm section. The anthem. The personalities.

For me, they became something bigger than a football team.

They became a cultural movement.

On paper, you might put them second.

But in my heart?

Number one. 🏆

A true People’s Champion.

🎮 ROUND ONE… FIGHT! 👊🏾🔥

If you played Street Fighter in the arcades of La Horquetta or Arima, there’s a good chance you knew the name Junks.

For Episode 11 of People of La Horquetta, we meet Jason “Junks” Joseph — remembered as one of the most formidable Street Fighter players to come out of the community.

For years, Junks terrorized challengers across the arcade scene. 😂🎮

No online play. No Wi-Fi. No excuses.

Just your coins, your character and somebody standing next to you waiting to take your turn.

But was Junks really one of the best La Horquetta ever produced? 👀

The old-school arcade crew will have to settle this one in the comments.

👑 From La Horquetta to the pageant stage.

It’s an achievement believed to place her among a very small group of women from our community to have reached that level.
