Really proud to share that “Mudfish Legacy”, a film I directed, filmed, and edited through @kwcreativeservices , will be screening at the Cannes Marché du Film as part of the Pavillon AfroNova opening ceremony on May 12th, 2026.

The film forms part of “3X Freedom 2” — a collective short film series exploring restitution, ancestral memory, cultural survival, and the lasting legacy of the transatlantic slave trade.

Created in collaboration with the Restitution Study Group and the Benin Kingdom Museum, “Mudfish Legacy” follows a ceremonial reflection inspired by the symbolic mudfish of the Benin Kingdom and the enduring relationship between memory, transformation, and cultural identity.

Huge thank you to Executive Producer @deadriafarmerpaellmann, featured artist @jirah.joshua, and everyone involved in helping bring this important work to life.

As someone passionate about meaningful visual storytelling, it’s an honour to have this work included in a space like Cannes alongside powerful conversations surrounding restitution, repatriation, and Afrodescendant cultural history.

Looking forward to the screening + Q&A at Pavillon AfroNova during the Marché du Film.

ANCESTRAL DEDICATION – MUDFISH LITANY

Honoured to share this powerful piece commissioned by the Restitution Study Group.

In March 2025, I documented a ceremonial procession and ancestral dedication at the British Museum, led by Jirah Joshua, reflecting on the history of the Benin Bronzes, manilla currency, and the lives impacted by transatlantic enslavement.

Rooted in remembrance, resistance, and restoration, the procession brought together artists, musicians, poets, and community voices in a moving act of tribute and reflection.

Really grateful that this work will now be featured as part of a screening + Q&A at Pavilion AfroNova during Cannes 2026 alongside two other films.

Big thank you to everyone involved in helping bring this moment to life.

Picture lock achieved 🎬

Wrapped up a powerful project over the last 2 months one that pushed me creatively across editing, story shaping, graphics, sound and overall post-production workflow.

Can’t share footage just yet, but I’m grateful for the trust, the collaboration and the growth that came with it.

“No Blacks. No Irish. No Dogs.”

A sign that once appeared in windows and doorways across Britain, and a blunt reminder of who was not welcome.

In this spoken word piece, Nollywood Josh explores the shared histories of exclusion faced by Black and Irish communities who came to England in search of opportunity, safety, and a better life, only to be met with rejection and dehumanisation.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all who celebrate! This moment is a reminder that history connects struggles across cultures — and that stories like these deserve to be remembered.
