TRANSCENDENTAL!!! 🚀 Last night I was lucky enough to devour and savour these incredible BBQ Platters of Texas' finest - barbecue royalty @interstellarbbq and @la_barbecue came to London!!! @thenedlondon

A serene dream of meaty peppery deliciousness.. The char... The smoke ring.. the peppery crust, the sweet sugar glaze, even the toast was incredible!

Beef ribs, pork ribs, sausage, lamb, brisket, macncheese, beetroot salad, pickles, beans... And of course the star of the show - 🍑 Peach Ice Tea Pork belly burnt ends 🤤🤤🤤 WHAT!

Does it get any better than this?!!
🌟 So delighted to enjoy Michelin-starred bbq all the way from the Lone Star State right here on our little island.... A taste of Texas I'll be fantasising about for years to come.

In the middle of the countryside there lies an old steakhouse where time stands still.

A place of legend, myth, and damn fine beef.

With an extensive anthology-sized book of wine, several cellar spaces, various rooms within rooms, it's a wonderful place of extraordinary whimsy.

There is no putting Champany into any one box, it's its own beast. Freshly seared on an open fire grill.

I can't wait to return!

Monday evening was a wonderful celebration of travel storytelling at the Travel Media Awards in London, one of the UK's most prestigious events recognising excellence in travel journalism, photography, broadcasting and digital media.

I was particularly pleased to see two BBC programmes shortlisted as finalists: The Travel Show – Somaliland and Discovering the World's Table – Uzbekistan. Congratulations to the entire Travel Show team on winning the award. A thoroughly deserved recognition for one of the BBC's flagship travel programmes.

The evening also gave me the opportunity to catch up with one of BBC News' most energetic and charismatic presenters, Nick Kwek, the host of Discovering the World's Table.

I had hoped to ask Nick a few questions about filming in Uzbekistan. That turned out to be next to impossible. Every mention of Uzbekistan sparked another story, another memory, another smile.

As someone who has spent many years helping Uzbekistan to tell its stories to international audiences, it was immensely rewarding to see how Uzbekistan continue to inspire long after the cameras had stopped rolling. That's exactly what great travel television should do: create memories that stay with both the audience and the people who make it. by @kwekeats

📡 Today's TV repeats of our glorious time filming in Turkey's Urla region made me think more about that special trip...

😍 The lovely friends we made like @kumbasaro @seraykumbasar of @urlavinolocale - and @bizdegeziyoruz and all the amazing food, delicious drinks and stunning surrounds we shot in 😲

From vineyards to beaches, cellars to find dining restaurants, markets to artichoke fields - it was some adventure!

Thank you so much Ozan and Seray for your warm, welcoming hospitality and patience 🎬🎥

🎬 Join me on a Wine Trip to Western Turkey tomorrow across BBC News - you can't miss me as our wee film gets broadcast a staggering EIGHT 8 times throughout the day!

Urla is an emerging wine track and it was only fair that I sampled as many pours as possible over the course of my time there - cycling between vineyards, responsibly of course!

I can still remember the phenomenal food from now Michelin-starred chef @kumbasaro at @urlavinolocale and all the magical moments we had filming and drinking and laughing together with @seraykumbasar - in the beautiful warm region not too far from Izmir.

It was such a special shoot with so many new friends made like @bizdegeziyoruz @engineertravel and @ceylanertorer @balikcimurla and more. For the particularly eagle eyed among you, you may see other incredible chefs in our opening titles @umut.karakus of @muuttoanatoliantapasbar and the inimitable @semsadenizsel ❤️

Sometimes you have to follow your nose to find a great story...

🍷 I was so lucky to visit this beautiful Mayfield vineyard in Orange, New South Wales, Australia recently, filming a new documentary for the BBC! 🇦🇺

Here, winemakers are using a smart device called BioScout that sniffs 👃 the air for fungal diseases and warns farmers ⚠️ about when to act, in effort to reduce the use of environmentally harmful pesticides and fungicides! ☠️

🥂 I'm celebrating a wee milestone moment - I'VE BEEN PUBLISHED IN A COOK BOOK - 🌶️ my very own Scottish spicy satay recipe inspired by my Malaysian heritage 🇲🇾

💌 It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid to have a cook book, growing up in mum and dad's takeaway in Fife, watching them cook and learning from the best!

And I'm totally delighted to have been asked to contribute in a v tiny way to this special non-profit book 'Land, Sea and Hills', which showcases all the amazing local producers, chefs and foodies in the beautiful county I now call home, East Lothian, Scotland.
