🥳 The KW Knitters' Fair is Saturday, September 12, from 9:30 AM-4:00 PM at the Kitchener Aud.

🧶 As of today there are 82 vendors, who will be spread across two whole arenas, bringing you yarn and spinning fibre, knitting needles and crochet hooks, project bags, pottery and turned-wood tools, books, stitch markers, darning tools, and all kinds of other knitting and crochet accessories.

🌟 FEATURED SPEAKER: Ashley Parker ( @theloopylamb )

📅 When: Tuesday October 13 at 7:00 PM ET
📍 Where: Zoom
📝 Topic: Ashley will take members behind the scenes of her amigurumi design process, sharing how an initial idea develops into a finished character. Using examples from her own work, she’ll talk about the creative decisions, experiments, mistakes, and practical techniques that help give each character its shape and personality. She’ll also share a brief look at how an idea develops into a published crochet book.

Ashley Parker is a Canadian crochet designer, author, and the creator behind The Loopy Lamb. She loves helping crocheters build their skills through approachable patterns and tutorials. Her work includes everything from amigurumi to home décor, and she enjoys exploring different shaping, construction, and colorwork techniques, including mosaic crochet. She has published three books to date, with a fourth being released by Stackpole Books in April 2027.

THANK YOU to everyone who was part of the KW Knitters' Fair this year!

The vendors, who dyed and stitched and carved and created, then packed their wares into vehicles and hauled them all to Kitchener to amaze and delight us with their dazzling displays of drool-worthy items.

The volunteers, who gave freely of their time to make this possibly the smoothest-running fair in our 30-mumble years, and whose smiles and energy have been commented on in countless posts by vendors and shoppers alike.

The staff from the Aud and Hahn Rentals who made things happen behind the scenes, from running power to setting up miles of pipe and drape. (And who were trying desperately to boost the air conditioning as the day got hotter and hotter!)

And of course, everyone who came to shop and visit and squish the yarn and watch the fashion show and learn from our speaker and generally bask in the joyful feeling of being part of a community united by our love of making!

You are all INCREDIBLE and we are SO GRATEFUL to you all for joining us!

We're already looking forward to next year. Mark your calendars! The Fair is always the second Saturday in September, so will be September 11 next year. by @kwknittersguild

THE KNITTERS' FAIR IS TOMORROW!

Our volunteers are already onsite, preparing the booths for the vendors to start loading in this afternoon. Doors open at 9:30 AM tomorrow! We can't wait to see you!

Unfortunately, I need to note that we've had a few vendors drop out, mostly for health reasons. We'll be sending best wishes to @mindfulyarns, @pretty.strings, @thebluebrickish , Grantham Books, and @lichenandlace , who are all unable to join us this year in the end. We're grateful to those who are contagious for not sharing their germs, and we look forward to having them back in future!

Meanwhile, if you have any questions about the Fair, please feel free to ask. I don't know what the vendors are bringing, apart from the teasers that they've shared on social media, so I can't tell you who will have what specifically — I'm as excited as anyone to see what's in the booths. But if you've got questions about tickets, access, our Fashion Show or our speaker, or anything else that I can answer, please speak up! by @kwknittersguild

🥳 The KW Knitters' Guild is celebrating our 40th anniversary this year!

Guild members have already had the chance to participate in our founder @sallymelvilleknits ' special Swing Sweater KAL — she'll be at the Fair wearing her Swing Sweater and would love to see others' projects!

There are other upcoming KALs for members too, featuring two bespoke patterns by member @nancylekx , designed to mark our ruby anniversary. They'll be featured at the Guild table during the Fair.

And last but very much not least, current Guild members will receive a celebratory gift (!!!!). Come by the Guild table to pick yours up at the Fair. If you can't come to the Fair, other arrangements will be forthcoming; or if you can only make a flying stop at the Aud on Saturday, one of our volunteers can bring your gift up to you at the entrance.

If you're NOT a Guild member, the Knitters' Fair is a chance to see more about what the Guild offers, and to chat with current members about all the fun! by @kwknittersguild

What an amazing evening! 🌟

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our monthly meeting, and a huge thanks to Mary Martin for telling the story of how her techniques have evolved and the role that the KW guild & its members have played in the development of MaryWMartinKnits! It was a fascinating story, and makes me very proud to be a member of the KW Knitting Guild.

One of the great joys of a yarn festival is, of course, seeing what other people have made and are wearing! We're looking forward to seeing all your knits and crocheted pieces on you on Saturday at the KW Knitters' Fair!

Of course, do check the forecast, and remember that the arenas start off cool but all those bodies, and all that insulating yarn, means that the space does get warm. Layers are great! Rhinebeck sweaters are great for outdoor events like, well, Rhinebeck, but we don't want anyone getting heatstroke, right?

I haven't decided what to wear yet, but chances are it'll be a linen tee and a lightweight shawl, like in this photo. Plus, as an organizer, I'll have a purple sash — we're the folks to come talk to if there are any questions. See you at the Fair! by @kwknittersguild
