Grateful to be spending the weekend at the @sofestofbooks in Nashville, to have another excuse to wear my cowboy boots, and to meet new writers. I spent the weekend surrounded by writers and readers who remind me why poetry matters. Thank you to @hubcitywriters for making this opportunity to share Long Eye. Thank you to the Southern Book Festival and @parnassusbooks for supporting my work.

Have you ever been a poet who started writing her first novel? That’s the flavor of this joy. So much fun at the @busybeewritingretreat. 🧡🧡🧡 taken in Gulf Shores, Alabama by @kwoyafagin

The past two days I’ve done four readings as part of the Bache Visiting Writers Series. I visited U of Montevallo, Samford University, The Golden Bears of Miles College, and finally UAB. I enjoyed meeting students and faculty and ended last night with a specialty cake that made me cry. Thank you to all who drove me, introduced me, came, supported, and organized!!! Thank you @kerrymadden27 and Kiffen for hosting such a lovely celebration afterwards and Happy Anniversary! God’s blessings on you!💚 by @kwoyafagin

UAB/BACHE Writers’ Series Launch 💚💚💚

The wonderful Kwoya Fagin Maples will be reading tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22nd, at 6:00 PM at UAB’s Hulsey Recital Hall on the UAB campus.

950 13th Street South
Birmingham, Alabama 35233

The event is free and open to the Public and all are welcome.

Our dear graduate student, Nonso Stephen Okoli, has written a beautiful introduction to Kwoya’s work, and her books will be available. Her newest book, LONG EYE, was published by Hub City Press in the spring. We celebrated Kwoya last night, and she shared with us stories and flowers of sweet grass from Charleston. She will also be reading at Montevallo, Samford, and Miles.

Sometimes you’re in Prague, and you’re a poet who hasn’t read all of Metamorphosis by Kafka. & who cares. Cause you’re in place you never thought you’d be. taken in Prague, Czech Republic by @kwoyafagin

After two years of planning and anticipation we’ve reached Athens, Greece. City is run by cats. They have their gang signs everywhere, as evidenced in these photos. My youngest is determined to find and feed all. Acropolis and statues of Medusa. Look away @verypinktoast. 💗 taken in Athens, Greece by @kwoyafagin
