A LOT has happened since my last post. I visited Baltimore to see a lot of my friends that I've been missing since moving to Chicago in March. This trip also let me retrieve the Van from storage so I could bring it to Chicago! Another successful roadtrip for the ol' girl.

@grace_is_amazed came out to join me for an unforgettable experience seeing @thestrokes live in Chicago. They were amazing!

After this, we flew up to Alaska to spend the 4th of July weekend with the great friends I made in Alaska. @wick.photo even let me borrow my ol' Land Cruiser for the time I spent there! We took a breathtaking roadtrip down to Girdwood for the 51st annual Girdwood Forest Fair. I truly missed everyone and am looking forward to my next visit!

During my time in Alaska, I got the call that I was dreading for a long time. My dad called to let me know that my Grandfather had passed away, after battling many health issues for years. I have the shop pictured where I grew up tinkering around on lawn mowers and go karts, eventually working on a few of my vehicles in that shop. I can't thank my Grandfather enough for the patience and work ethic he taught me throughout my life. Now he can rest well.

Coming back from Missouri after my Grandfather's memorial service, I had to start prepping the Van for the trade back to its previous owner, @datsundon . Don hit me with an irrefutable trade offer to get his Van back, offering a JDM 1983 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex. After three years with the Van, I decided to start the new chapter of owning the legendary AE86. I'm looking forward to learning more about this car and am excited for where it will take me.

It is hard to express how thankful I am for the network of friends and family in my life. The support everyone has shown me since my move from Alaska back to the east coast has been immense and unwavering. From nights at the diner to carne asadas, from car shows to back road cruises, from driveways to the twisty roads of Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park, I've been surrounded by some of the highest quality people I've ever met. Cross-country road trip from Fairbanks, AK to Baltimore, MD in my 1984 Toyota Van. I would do it again, would you?

Montana was my favorite state to drive through despite not being able to go the speed limit on I-94. It was very surreal.

Being the photographer for my Battalion @1_5bobcats has been an awesome experience and opportunity for me. I am grateful to be able to use my skills to portray the story of the Bobcats, an active duty infantry unit that has been around since 1808. Through my experiences training in this unique environment, I have learned the importance of helping the Soldier next to you and fostering strong partnerships. Having been to multiple field exercises, combined arms live fire exercises, three local Arctic Combat Training Center rotations, and two other counties with this unit, my time here has been action-packed and fast-paced. I'm excited for the upcoming winter training cycle and pumped to take more photos of the Bobcats doing what they do best; being the premier Arctic Infantry unit in our @usarmy !

After 2 years of being at Fort Wainwright, I finally got the chance to attend the Cold Weather Orientation Course down at the Northern Warfare Training Center. This is what made me want to come to Alaska initially, so I am so grateful that I was able to attend this course!

I learned the best practices for fighting the enemy, sustaining my unit, and keeping my unit alive in the arctic and sub-arctic environments that we serve in and may eventually deploy to. In all, I learned the standards for carrying out, supervising, and refining Cold Weather Indoctrination Courses at my unit. Putting leaders and Soldiers through this course and the other courses the NWTC offers prepare units for being efficient and successful in the cold environments we are ordered to serve in. taken in Black Rapids Training Site by @kyguy_s

I probably chose to drive the Alcan at the worst possible time (following 4 feet of snow), but it was no challenge in this baby. Tango faced temperatures that she's never felt before, -40°F along with wind chill, and probably lower at some points of the trip.

Thanks to parts from @toyota , @toyotausa, @falkentire , @hella.group, @rotopaxofficial
, @ironman4x4america , @ironman4x4 @ranchosuspension, @tomwoodsdriveshafts , @oreillyautoparts, and @canonusa , the journey from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to Fort Wainwright, Alaska was one of the most fun that I have ever completed.

About $1200 in gas was consumed over the 4,000 mile journey. Many moose, caribou, bald eagles, and bison were seen alongside the roads I traveled; I was even lucky enough to see the elusive lynx in the Northern Rockies.

Would I drive it again? In a heartbeat.
