got some film back from last summer, so it was a great time to reminisce on all the work we’ve put into our little home @quinnhoyle 🏡 from 1,000 sq. ft. of flooring, painting, tiling, drywall, concrete hammering, it’s pretty neat to see how far it’s come. This master bath may be taking as long as GTA 6 but ya gotta learn somehow.

🇳🇴 Norway for the World Games went craaaaaaazy (long days) but was the experience of a lifetime! Grew up hearing my mom’s stories of traveling globally for karate and getting to do the same, AND do it with her was surreal. The black belt I got at 13 still fits (still lean and mean) represented an entire federation behind me. I’m living the good ole days now and it doesn’t go under appreciated getting to be in my prime. Photo dump:

1. Haven’t competed in forms/katas in years still got in a field of 16 I’ll take 6th any day.

Happy 27th lap around the sun to this absolute gem of a human being @quinnhoyle 🎈 I am honored every day to wake up next to you and privileged to celebrate you every chance I get! You’re the best partner, dog mom, daughter, aunt, weirdo, nut job anyone could have in their life. I hear the 27 club isn’t great so let’s make this next year the best yet- the Woodstock to my snoopy and the loudest Keebler elf I’ve ever met enjoy your day, love!! Go wish my lady a happy birthday or else I’ll be really mad! (The fact you spent the day at my karate tournament in Florida is a testament to who you are ❤️) by @kykylandry

So incredibly proud of these young men- 5th place in the nation, despite the rainiest, coldest spring New England could throw at us. It’s a joy to get these guys farther than I ever did! “Adversity strengthens the muscles of resistance”

Had the privilege to coach spring break training for the club that gave me so much in undergrad. To be on the “other side” as a coach has been humbling, challenging, and undeniably rewarding. The strides in technique, focus, and speed were incredible to witness from outside of the shell- these athletes didn’t need to use their week off to wake up early, have two practices a day, and sacrifice pretty much all cell service for a week but they did, they improved, and they thrived on and off the water. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the chemistry a team like this creates, it was what made UVM so special for me, so to set the building blocks in place for these guys was special to say the least.

Taking time off from martial arts (and life for the most part) to focus on my love of teaching and my passion for rowing was rewarded with one of the hardest, yet deeply fulfilling weeks of my life. I was never the fastest, biggest, or most skilled but to prove to myself I can teach at an elite level means far, far more, which is owed to the vulnerability and receptiveness of some incredible student athletes. ( also impressed with my ability to drive the launch, shoot practice film, and not injure anyone aka slide 7)

Got to drive a 10k lb. 60 ft. beast 25 hours through 10 states just to break down when we got to Georgia but a smooth sea never made strong sailor (rower). From shaking off rust in 40° rain on Monday to meaty race pieces on Thursday and Friday in 75° sunshine, it was a week well spent in the South.

Here’s to 2 plus infinite more @quinnhoyle ! Two years have flown by so graceful and effortlessly- I look forward to every rainy day because it means just one more rainy day nap is on the horizon with the safest, most comfortable human I could imagine; and I’m lucky to hold you each and every day. Thank you for your connection, personality, care, and love. I don’t know what I would do without my loud, five foot, gentle, and absolutely stunning missing piece day in and day out. Highest high and the lowest low

I never thought I’d get to compete at such an elite level but here we are!
I needed to break 23 boards to beat the 22 set before me, I was the last one to go and really thought I had it but it just adds for a hell of a story.
I still believe teaching will always be more important than competing but it’s still pretty damn sick to come a board shy of a world title taken in Orlando, Florida by @kykylandry
