Have you ever wanted to try aerial? Come to our Intro to Aerial class! This class is for complete beginners, and there is no strength requirement (or weight limit) to join.

In this class, you might learn:
• How to climb - starting from the floor :)
• How to go upside in a knotted fabric or sling (like in this photo)
• How to put on a foot lock
• How to get on a trapeze or lyra (aerial hoop)
• Fun shapes and poses that start from these skills

It’s never too late to join the circus, you might love it! 🎪

Classes are currently Thursdays at 7pm and Saturdays at 11am. Visit our website and click on Schedule to find our drop in class list with booking links. We look forward to seeing you in class!

Performing aerial rope in Silver Foxes: The Eras Tour - May 9, 2026!

“I was introduced to circus arts at 41. I was in a transitional point in my life where I was working to rediscover my sense of self, and I was drawn to the opportunity to move my body in ways that are both challenging and artistically interesting. I started doing partner acro, and I soon discovered my love for aerial rope & static trapeze. I will be performing on rope, exploring my experience of transitioning from being a married teen parent, raising kids, getting divorced, and into a space of freedom to be myself.”

Why should people attend the show?
“People often worry that they’re too old to learn circus arts, or think that getting older means losing the ability to do hard physical things. This show is full of amazing, strong artists who prove that art & athleticism has no age limits.”

This is 50. On my birthday we went to Alux, which is an amazing restaurant in Playa del Carmen inside a cavern. Everything was delicious, and after dinner we explored the cavern. We left an offering for the alux (mischievous sprites who accept offerings in exchange for protection). I highly recommend it if you’re in the area.

The best club decor in Playa del Carmen - note the cow!

At Chichen Itza on the spring equinox, the serpent can be seen descending the Kukulkán Pyramid. The head is carved at the bottom, and the Mayans built the pyramid so that the shadows created by the steps would reveal the body. It is only visible around the spring & fall equinox.

We also visited some Mayan ruins in Playa del Carmen & Tulum.

I’m not generally someone who makes New Year’s resolutions, but being in the fitness space it’s hard to avoid. It’s also hard to avoid the conservative MAHA bs. That’s another post (or 1000), but everything that’s happening in our country has me continually thinking about how to move forward. I don’t have answers, but this is what I can do.

•Nurture my empathy for everyone who is being targeted by this administration. Read books! Stay informed, but be cautious about marinating in the news. Becoming numb only makes atrocities easier to accept/ignore.

•Stay connected with my community. We are stronger together.

•Be fucking angry. It’s an appropriate response.

•Do cardio. Lift weights. It’s how we make our stress bucket bigger, so we can deal with stressful situations and still cope, and think, and act. And if worst comes to worst, I want to have the strength to fight and the endurance to run.

•EAT. There’s a reason that skinny is back in style; underfed & weak people are easier to control. Also, you can’t build muscle if you’re constantly trying to shrink. Protein is important, but so are fats & carbs. Don’t forget the plants! They are our best sources of many micronutrients, which we need to feel and function our best.

•Change buying/consuming habits. Support small, local businesses, and local farmers & ranchers. Buy used. Fix things rather than replace them when possible. Big corporations are a big part of the problem. Let’s stop, or at least reduce, how much of our money we give them. I know this one can be tough depending on where you live and your income level. We’re very fortunate to have a lot of options here in the Seattle area, and I can afford to spend a little more on local, pasture raised beef, for example. We all have to survive but every shift we can make is helpful, especially the more of us there are. I’ve stopped purchasing from companies who donate to republicans, union bust, support ICE, or eliminate DEI.

Additional things I do as a small business owner:

•Strive to pay a living wage. No one makes minimum wage.

•Transitioning to an employee owned business.

•Accepting barters & work trade.

•Offering free services when possible. by @kylamarise

At Alki Pride, Kim suggested we rig a Spanish web. I somewhat reluctantly agreed to get spun around and was pleasantly surprised how little it triggered my motion sickness during the fast spinning. The slowing down to stop was another story… 😂
