Shots of the car from EuroTripper 13 ✨ Still gotta dial in the fitment exactly how I want it but I’m very happy with how everything turned out. Also still chasing an AFS error on the lights that was not present the last time I had them on the car.. 🙃 Thanks for the pictures @adamsheikh! 🖤 by @kyle.j.anderson
Even more work on this car I’m extremely proud of. ✨ The GTI is coming up on being 10 years old and the sunroof trim has taken a significant beating. I could have just wrapped it and be done with it, but the clear was very spotty and had a texture to it so I was worried it would show through. I was originally planning on sanding down all the factory clear and then hitting it with a 2k spray clear, but then I worried it wouldn’t stick to the bare plastic or even have a reaction and start cracking. So I decided to just sand everything smooth and try and polish it out. Sanding it all off took wayyy more effort than I expected but once I got through it all, I tried every product I had and nothing worked. I’ve made some great friends on IG and was given product recs! Sunroof is far from perfect, but it’s significantly better than it was before and I’m stoked on it! 🤝 After getting clear everywhere I figured it was time for compound, polish and ceramic coating. I’m not going to pretend to know what I’m doing, just a dude getting comfortable tackling DIYs again. So no high end products, but got the paint looking a few years younger and way more protected. Also spent close to an hour filling in rock chips before coating, entire front clip could use a respray for sure. 😅 Then came trying to salvage my JDM golf headlights. Tried a DIY box oven, direct heat with the heat gun and all that, nothing was softening the factory glue. So resorted to using a multitool to cut off a majority of the lens. Without knowing exactly what I was doing, ended up cutting into some tabs and even the chrome accents, thankfully the lenses have plastic bit on top to hide all that. Majority of the lens off, I then had to rip out all the rest of the lens and scrape off all the super hard glue. An extremely tedious process and I was worried about destroying all the chrome bits. Got some Amazon special lenses (that I’m pretty sure were warped) and some butyl, I do not think I was able to get everything 100% sealed so they will be going on the car right before ET along with some accent bits to make it all work. ✨ Thanks for coming along for another ET Prep yap fest. 🤠🖤 by @kyle.j.anderson
Extremely happy with how these wheels turned out. ✨ Wheels were pretty fucked when I originally got them in 2019, did a slight refresh then, new hardware, cleaned them up, and just polished the lips in the tub at my apartment. This time around I had to put in some serious work to sand out some pitting and remaining machine lines. (not as much sanding as the LMs I had on the mk6 tho, iykyk) The lips and faces got absolutely destroyed during a visit to the dealer in 2023. So I finally justified getting the faces powder coated, never loved the paint job one of the previous owners did; not to mention the butchering of the back of the faces/fill+drill.. Also opted to correctly mount the faces this time around, so I’ve still got to dial in the fitment. 😅 Anyways, that’s enough yappuccino, back to the rest of my ET Prep. 🤠🖤 by @kyle.j.anderson
