Thank you to everyone who donated to the fundraiser and supported me along the journey! Together, we raised $5689.88.

Unfortunately, I did not reach my goal of completing the 100 miles. Around 70 miles and 14 hours in, I was wrecked and hurt, and made the decision to call it a day. I will try again after some more, much-needed preparation and training, and will get it done! As disappointing as this is, I learned a ton about myself and we still CRUSHED our goal of raising $5000! The doctors and patients of UVA Med’s Pediatric Cardiology could not be more thankful! Together, we saved lives.

Remember those “Fun-Runs” we used to do back in elementary school where we would call our relatives asking for pledges, they would give a certain amount of money for each lap we ran, and then that money would go to some charity or organization for kids in need?

Well, on April 27th, 2024, I plan on running the C&O Canal 100 Mile ultramarathon! However, while running this race, I will be raising money for UVA Health’s Children’s Heart Fund. This is a smaller, UVA Health-based charity that enables the hospital, known for its groundbreaking research and clinical care, to offer this level of expertise to every patient and their family who turns to them for help.

Sometimes, children are born with congenital heart defects, and it is very costly for them to get the care they need to receive to survive. The University of Virginia health system has the MOST high-level pediatric cardiac surgery program and the ONLY pediatric cardiac transplant program in the state of Virginia. This means, to receive the best possible care, more than HALF of the children requiring heart surgery live HOURS away from Charlottesville!

Help me along my journey to give these kids a chance! The pediatric cardiologists at UVA Health, the families that this fund benefits, and the little kids that are given the chance to see another day because of this fund all appreciate anything you can give, as every donation brings us one step closer to our goal!
