Do you ever wonder what we mean when we ask you for a vector file? Think of it like a set of instructions for drawing a picture. Because it’s based on math, you can resize it as big or small as you want without it getting blurry or pixelated, unlike a raster (like a JPEG). It’s like giving someone a recipe to draw a logo perfectly every time, no matter the size. Common vector file types are SVG, AI, or EPS, but the most important part is that they MUST have originated in a vector based program such as Adobe Illustrator. You cannot take an existing raster (jpg, png, etc.) and just save it as .svg. @kyledarrall has the cutest little bitmoji that we need to be vectorized for some cool upcoming projects. So I decided to create this sped up video to show the work that goes into creating complex vectors. This recording was shot in just over an hour. So if you’re ever wondering why we charge what we do for vectorization, remember this reel! taken in Penticton, British Columbia by @kyledarrall
