Today marks 5 months and 2 days since Dad went to Heaven. He would have been turning 63 today, so l hope he knows he is being remembered and celebrated by so many. I’m beyond thankful to have spent almost 20 of those years with him because if you ever met him, you know he was one of the coolest, kindest, funniest, most thoughtful people out there. His life was cut much too short this summer, but he made the absolute most of his time on earth. He was always up for an adventure and always a friend to anyone he met along the way. He never failed to show his love for others. I’m so thankful for all the memories I have with him and all the things I learned from him, and I hope I can make him proud until I see him again. This race was so special to me. Not only was this my first race since my foot surgery, but I also got to run on my dad’s turf with my best friend @sadie_bridgforth . My dad and I ran quite a few 5ks together back in the day and even won our age groups together once or twice. We’d run the whole race together knowing, but not admitting, that we’d kick it into high gear in the final stretch to try to beat each other. Unfortunately, he was a much better sprinter than me. He was a FedEx pilot for almost 30 years, so this race would’ve been perfect for him. Thank you @flymemphis and @fedex for this sweet experience. Big thanks to @uarkansas for the greatest college experience. I got to reconnect with family I hadn’t seen in years, go to school where my grandparents went to school, start lifelong friendships, and create the coolest memories.
