“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”- 1 Corinthians 13:13

There are moments we all face in this life: Sitting in standstill traffic, our first experience watching The Wiggles sing on TV, but today I want to focus on a specific one: The patient wait for food at a sit down restaurant. Sometimes agonizing, at rare times swift, but you never really know what is in store, but you can bet when your food starts to make it’s way to your table, a joy is found that is unrivaled and hilarious at the same time. Have you ever seen the expressions at someone else’s table in that scenario? You see joy, ecstasy, sometimes tears, but you see it pouring out of them like like smoke from a fire. Which leads me to this follow-up question: What do other people see pouring out of you in your daily life? Do people see love? Patience? Passion? Confidence? Wisdom? Dorkiness? Trust? Surrender? What is the Lord trying to convey to the lost soul, the hurting person through you today? You bring specific gifts and talents every single day, He has wired you intricately and intimately, so my challenge to us this morning is to let that fire, those gifts, His love pour out of us and let the world see we are on fire for King Jesus. Step in confidence, step in what He has given you, and let the world see the creation of love, boldness and strength He has made in you. Hallelujah. by @kylelance

“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.”- John 14:1

There is no place where His love does not reach, on our days that we struggle, the days that we are on a peak shouting His praises, in our tough circumstances, in our great moments, His love spans over all of them. He wants us to trust Him and His plan with 100% of our heart, our soul, and our mind, and believe in Him even when everything in our life is seemingly going against us. There is no chain His love can’t break, it can help you conquer any fear, it doesn’t leave you because your past is bad or because of your insecurities, it helps you forgive those who have hurt you and yourself in the same vein. When doubt and fear come to take your heart and place them in chains, remember those chains have already been broken in victory, eternal victory in His name. He loves you, and will continue to pursue you because you are His for eternity, trust and believe in His ways, His plan, His heart, His love and watch those chains fall again and again for the rest of your life. Hallelujah. by @kylelance

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:11

A few weeks ago, I got to grab lunch with my friend David and his girlfriend Katie. We talked about many things: Life, liberty, which Panera Bread side is the best, you know, the important topics that demand conversation. In the midst of all that we talked about, you could see how joyful they were, not just around one another, but how present they were in the time we spent at lunch. How often do we miss being present in the moments we need to be nowadays? Life moves faster than we can blink. We have different responsibilities, challenges, and things we face, and in the midst of that, we can miss the moments where our presence can make a difference.

And I want you to stop really quick and hear this: Your presence makes a difference in every room you walk into. You’ve been fashioned by the King of Kings. You’re not a 1 of 100, not even a 1 in 10. You are a 1 of 1, created by the Creator of the world. You were created to share who you are, your quirks, your talents, the way you can do the entire choreography of Footloose (okay, that may just be me, but still).

Don’t doubt what simply being present in the moment can do for someone around you. You can be the ear and shoulder they need in a season of doubt and grief. You can be the wisdom and spark they need to continue where God is leading them. You can let who you are propel someone closer to Jesus and what He is calling them toward.

Your presence can make a difference for the rest of your life, not just a few days, not just here and now, but every single day. Because of your presence, someone walks more confidently in who they are. Because of your presence, someone knows they are loved, valued, and prayed over.

So let us continue to encourage and build up those around us. Let us continue to be present in the ever-changing nature of this world, to encourage, to love, to let ourselves be loved in the name of Jesus, and to see how that unites us all as we continue to see how Jesus moves all around us. by @kylelance

“God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”- Psalm 46:1

Last year, our pastor, his wife, and their family faced an unimaginable circumstance: their 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. When something of that magnitude happens, it’s easy to question God, to wonder why things like that happen, but let me talk about that 9 year old for a second. She never once let that diagnosis break her spirit. Throughout treatment, her joy remained steadfast, her love for the Lord and others never changed, and her resilience and strength not only carried her through some incredibly difficult moments, but inspired and encouraged others throughout the journey. Today, that now 10 year old continues to be a beacon of hope in the face of adversity and the battle she continues to face with cancer. In our kids ministry, during worship, she is at the front, on stage, worshipping Jesus with her whole heart. She lights up every room she walks into, and she continues to stand in the strength and hope of the King of Kings.

What a God we serve.

To see her resilience, to see how God has moved in her heart, in her parents, and in her sister, and to see how He has used their story to inspire and encourage others is incredible. It reminds us that no matter the circumstances we face, no matter how unimaginable the moment may seem, and no matter how impossible the mountain in front of us may look, nothing is impossible with God by our side. So today, let us worship in the middle of the miracle that God continues to do in their daughter’s life, her parents’ and sister’s lives, and in our own lives, because God is not going to stop moving. He is going to continue to be by our side in our highest of highs and lowest of lows, so let us choose to worship, let us choose to praise with assurance, knowing He has gone before us, will sustain us through each and every storm, and will remain seated in victory for the rest of eternity. Hallelujah. by @kylelance

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and I wanted to share part of my story and the story of God in my life.

17 years ago, I tried to take my own life. I was broken. I was searching for somewhere to belong. I wanted to feel loved, and when I kept trying to find it in the world, I failed. It led me to the darkest place I’ve known.

And then I found a love that never leaves your side. I found a place to belong where I will never feel left out or alone. I found healing. I found Jesus.

Looking back on that season, I feel many emotions, but gratitude and humility prevail. I think of the people who showed me Christlike love, the role models and friends who stood by me, and I am overwhelmed by the love of a Savior who never left my side.

Whenever lies about my worth came, comparison stole my joy, or anxiety tried to consume me, the Lord reminded me that I was created with purpose and for His glory.

The tattoo on my left side is a semicolon: when a writer could end a sentence with a period, but continues on. It represents my life. The tattoo on the right represents the life I found and the Savior who set me free.

To anyone facing thoughts of suicide, doubting their worth, or dealing with depression, anxiety, or substance abuse: You are not alone. You are loved.

There is a Father in Heaven who calls you His beloved. He will never leave or forsake you. His plans for you are good and for His glory. You can trust Him. You can run to Him. He desires a relationship with you. He will faithfully stand with you today, tomorrow, and for eternity.

If you don’t have a relationship with Christ, I’d love to answer your questions or connect you with someone who can help.

To everyone who has helped mold me into who I am today: I love you all so much and praise God for who you are. Keep loving others hard and making sure those around you are okay. Keep helping heaven meet earth.

1 Peter 3:8

“Now finally, all of you should be like-minded and sympathetic, should love believers, and be compassionate and humble, not paying back evil for evil or insult for insult but, on the contrary, giving a blessing, since you were called for this, so that you can inherit a bl by @kylelance

Hope is Hard

Burning things down is easy.

One match.
One careless word.
One moment of anger,
and years can disappear
into smoke.

Erasing history is easy.

Delete the pictures.
Throw away the letters.
Pretend the memories
never learned your name.

Annihilating is easy.

Bridges fall faster
than they’re ever built.
Trust shatters
quicker than it’s earned.
Love can be wounded
in a single breath.

Easy has never asked
for endurance.

But trying to fix
what’s broken—

That’s hard.

It means standing
in the ashes
instead of running from them.

It means admitting
what your own hands
helped destroy.

It means choosing
to pick up one piece
when a thousand
still lie scattered.

Hope is hard.

Hope whispers
when fear is shouting.

Hope plants seeds
in soil that still looks barren.

Hope believes
that scars
don’t have to be
the end of the story.

Hope keeps praying
when heaven feels silent.

Hope keeps loving
when the outcome
is unknown.

Hope risks
being disappointed again
because it believes
that restoration
is worth the possibility
of heartbreak.

Anyone can light a fire.

Not everyone
will stay
long enough
to help rebuild.

So I’ll choose
the harder road.

The road of humility.
The road of repentance.
The road of grace.
The road of hope.

Because destroying
has never required strength.

But rebuilding—

Rebuilding is the work
of hands that refuse to believe
love has had its final word.

And maybe,
just maybe,

the hardest things
are the ones
most worth doing. by @kylelance

February 24th, the 55th day of the year, is a pretty important one. Another trip around the sun for someone who is my brother, an incredible leader, a man after God’s heart daily, and countless other things. I could say a lot here but I’ll keep it short and brief: Sam, I am so proud of the man you are and continue to be. You lay down your life every single day for God’s glory, His people and His Kingdom. You are impacting eternity daily, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for this next year and beyond. I love you brother and I’m humbled and grateful to be a part of your life. A lot of memories and awesome moments to come. Stay til the last slide to see one of Sam’s nicknames. taken in Oracle Arena by @kylelance

Life recently: a few things I’ve learned.

1. I have come to the realization that I am a Disney adult.

2. The saxophone is such an amazing instrument to learn and play.

3. Professional wrestling is the best.

4. The Tower of Terror is the best ride out of all 4 parks at Disney.

5. People are moved by gestures of kindness and love because of how rare it is in the world today. Be the love and hope this world needs. Help Heaven meet earth.

6. Wicked is a Top 5 live musical.

7. Surrendering to Jesus is a daily choice and one that, albeit hard at times, will always be worth it.

8. Love hard and unapologetically.

9. Go outside more often and experience nature.

10. You are always making an impact on someone, a sibling, a co-worker, even a stranger. Never downplay what your words and actions mean to someone.

Whether you are in a joyous season, enjoying spooky season, a new season with challenges or anything in between, I hope and pray all of you continue to trust where Jesus is leading you. His plans and path for you are good, even in the unknown and the waiting. Stay rad, peeps ✌🏻 by @kylelance
