There’s always going to be some excuse that’s stopping you from being your authentically fabulous self. For me it’s this one conversation I had where someone called me self aggrandizing, and ya, they were right. It is a lot to put out on display, but honestly why not? Who cares? I could die tomorrow and I’ll be damned if I go with a collection of photos hidden in my phone because I’m scared of what someone thinks about it. So this is YOUR sign to be as goddamned faboosh as you want to. Let your hair down sis. This is 40s mentality and I’m here for all of it.

I had such a blast, shooting @tamekostar at @rebeltoronto last week for @bedby10events. When @simonedennymusic asked if I was available I made myself available - because growing up as a dancer her voice was the soundtrack to my classes I was in all hours of the week. But the best part was being able to make new friends after the show and I found myself in the middle of one the best and most soulful conversations I’ve had years, and having the pleasure of also meeting @shahiinthesky. Literally shut down the restaurant. They say don’t meet your idols but I’m glad I did - maybe the expression is different when it’s iconic house music diva idols. by @kyletravisyoung

Throwback - A long time ago, my friend Eric and I were doing grant applications and when we had to fill out a company name we decided on artillery collective. We needed something that spoke to using our arsenal as artists to create a defence to the impending doom that was possibly the first Trump administration, not sure. Anyway, we took on the noble act of producing theatre ourselves, and what better way to start than a full musical? I don’t know how we survived, I know some great and beautiful theatre was created. But man was it a struggle. The branding was cute, the press kits were cute, the website also cute. In the end we broke even but it was quite the experience.

I can’t help but look back at the press kit and think of how much I must have really been inspired by that got milk campaign though. by @kyletravisyoung

I’m going to be honest, I am very lucky I’ve found success in the wedding industry making films of people’s love stories. When I consider what a privilege it is to be so intimately attached to two people on the biggest day of their lives, and even a step beyond that, that I get to experience first hand and am so deeply integrated into deep cultural traditions I normally would never have experienced, I’m in awe. I’m grateful that what I’ve chosen to have as a business, is probably the most ethical practice and only brings joy and love and will be viewed as an heirloom for generations. All that being said, as an industry, it can be a little cringe, and it can be tacky, and it can come with some strange characters. But one thing I’ve been able to do is maintain what I always set as a goal for this endeavour, and that’s to stay well practiced and up to date with filmmaking software and equipment and to be constantly learning and sharpening. Maybe it’s the ballerina in me that needs to always be practicing. But I really do get paid to go through each of these shots, and each of these delightful answering machine messages, and I cry and cry, and I get to make what I think is an incredibly moving expression of love between two people. Anyway, the world is in need of love, so while I decide what my artists form of resistance will be, for now I’m going peddle some love movies. I really do love this one. I normally break the weddings into three acts and for this one, this is act 2 of a very lovely composition involving the radiant Becca and a very handsome Steve. taken in Toronto, Canada by @kyletravisyoung

This year I want to be collaborating a lot more with artists and musicians, and putting my focus on the music industry, because musicians are my favourite subject. They’re always the best on camera. Rio 25 Pt 1

(I’ll never forgive meta for adding a song I would never add in a million years to the original carousel post without my permission, I was so angry and my Virgo rising was so triggered, that I deleted it all. And now I’ve re-uploaded it with a video at the end so hopefully no shenanigans.)
